I want to negotiate some of the debt to be removed completely from my CR, for a percentage, but I don't want it re-dated (of course). Should I even contact the companies that are within a year of falling off or should I just let old dogs lie?

Example: Worker is hired in 1998 for $5.50 an hour
each year this worker gets a small raise of .25 cents an hour and in 2007 is making $7.75
Due to difficulty in filling positions and increase in minimum wages, etc, the company must hire new employees at $7.71
Is it fair to do this? There is no way to hire people for less, and
we can't afford to give current employees any more than they are already making? What should we do? How can we make current workers who have been here for years feel good about the situation?

If you buy products with a wholesaler's license does the government require you to report your profits if you resale the stuff or is that only required if you have a business license and are running a business.

I recently changed to another job in another section of where I work for more money and the experience. The new job is totally different job and it's like I'm starting all over again. I was at my first job for over 15 years and I'm in a department where some of my co-workers resent my being there because I have seniority and have a choice over where I can work, holidays, etc.. I want to get along and make friends but they shun me. There are a few who help me and are nice to me but most of them don't help me tell me the right way to do things and laugh when I make mistakes. There's word that they are forcing me to quit and go back where I came from. The boss is really busy and has a 'just deal with it' attitude. I'm not a quitter and I won't give in, but everyday is more stress on top of the job itself. I have no intention of throwing my seniority around, but you can't tell them that. It's been a few months now and those bastards haven't let up. Any advice. Thanks.

We recently bought a brand new condo with 800 square feet in NJ. After moving in for 6 weeks, we were informed by our lawyer that the square footage calculations previously provided to us were incorrect and according to the corrected calculations, my unit now is actually 780 square feet. From the start, we were not only informed by the seller’s realtor, the owner of the building, but also the appraiser hired by the mortgage company that it has 800 square feet. We feel we were mislead. If I knew the condo was smaller, I would have adjusted my offer price accordingly.

We talked to our lawyer and he said that we don’t have a case because the master deed somehow has the correct square feet. Is there anything I can do now? It's unethical and unfair to first home buyer like us. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks.

I bought my home with no money down:
1st mortgage 270K at 5.375%
2nd mortgage 93M at 8.625

Can i refinance the second without refinancing the first?
How can I do that?

It seems a lot of places won't just refinance the 2nd alone.

Thanks!

I'm looking for stories of ordinary people who have saved huge amounts of money by living very frugally. For example, I have a vague memory of having read somewhere about a waiter who could afford to live in downtown San Fransisco on approximately $20,000/yr. because he was so careful with his money.

I'm looking for stories of ordinary folks who saved their way into financial security, not people who have gotten luckier than most with business decisions (like Warren Buffett).

Thanks!

I just moved to an apartment and we had to pay $400.00 a month for our dog. $200 is a security deposit and $200 is a sanitation deposit. Puld I have to pay $20 extra a month for rent. I don't get ANY of it back when I leave. I am a nice person and always pick up after my dog but since I am paying $200 for sanitation, shouldnt they have to clean up after her?
