My health insurance is too expensive and when I signed I was not aware that it was for a year. Now they are telling me I am locked into it for a year.

I am currently at a job that I used to love. I've been with it for almost 8 months now, recently got a raise. I enjoy working with most of my co-workers and I do like my supervisor. A couple of items that makes things difficult for me, first my schedule. I'm not full time and I'm not part time. I'm what is called "flex time" where my hours can vary between 30-35 hours and there is no sign of that changing or moving up to another position, which brings to a second problem. Due to recent budget cuts, they have stopped hiring people and stopped promoting people which is what I want to do and have made it clear with my supervisor. I am in a position where a person can move up quickly. My supervisor had the position I had and 10 months later, he was a supervisor but because of money issues, that isn't happening anytime soon and the company opened a customer service center down in Phillipines doing exactly what I am doing but for cheaper. I have enough money in my bank account

I have about 14 acres of land with nothing on it, there's only about 1/2 an acre that is cleared and flat, the rest is mountainside and would take some grading to get flat. I want to have a simple retreat to use for myself on weekends as a "getaway" or to rent to people for similar purposes (i.e. nothing too fancy, this land is out in the sticks of western NC mountains) but I don't have the money right now to build anything- estimates for even a small cabin are around $65,000 and my budget is more like under $15,000 right now. Does anyone have any good ideas for something simple I can put on it or a way to get something built more cheaply than a company would do? I don't want to put anything on it that would decrease the land value. Thnx for any ideas!

My house was assessed in the spring, and my property taxes went up $200 more a year, again! This last hike makes my taxes almost double what they were when we bought the house less than 5 years ago.

Do I need to bring any papers with me? Will they have records of my taxes there? What do I say to them? I don't want to look like a huge ignorant idiot in the Assessor's Office.

Hi, I have a legal issue that requires quite a lot of time spent on it or atleast interest. I have been told be a lawyer that I do have a strong case and that I would be able to sue, but he wouldn't be able to take it on because of my circumstances (MONEY). It would be taking on the Goverment re: Public Housing, and a burn injury to a baby. Can anyone help me with any answers.? Is there honest lawyers out there? Where are they? Does anyone know any legal firm who may take this on? Very out of my depth with things like this, but I do beleive that I have a strong case and need propper help. Thanks

It's a bank owned house and I am paying cash. Do I include a check for earnest money with the offer? Is it true that the more I pay the more likely they are to accept it?

I ordered something online and it was picked up from the warehouse today, I selected 3 day ground service via UPS. I know they don't deliver on weekends, but I was wondering if the trucks actually travel towards the final destination on weekends.

Hey everyone,

I'm on the verge of buying my first home. It will be a starter home obviously, and I plan on being in it for about 3-5 years.

I have enough cash to afford the 20% down payment and closing costs, but that would not leave much leftover for random expenses.

Would it be a good idea to finance my closing costs into the mortgage? What would be some pros/cons of doing so?

Thanks!

We have 3 payroll categories: Salaries/Wages, Bonuses, and Commissions. I am a salary + commission employee. Last quarter my commission was tracked under 'bonus'. It was my understanding that these were taxed differently. Does anyone know the answer to this on FICA and or State of CA?

I found out that I have to pay more taxes as an ind. contractor, my employer told me to save half of my check for taxes! i am being paid $18/hr, does this mean that I am really only netting $9/hr after all is said and done? Thanks for your help!

I'm wondering if I am going to be denied unemployment if I am pregnant? The requirement is you must be "ready, available and capable of working full time" and being pregnant, you still are capable. If at first I put on the form that I was unable to work full time, which isn't true but I botched it, but then spoke with someone over the phone at the agency afterwards and told them I could- they said I had to wait until I receve paperwork so I can fill out an eligibility form and then they sent me a medical form I had to fill out but I just sent it back and said that I have no doctor or medical condition I would need one for so we can just clear up this mess... now they say my account/case is impending investigation of availability and I'm not going to be paid until a decision is made (in my favor). So I don't know what the heck to make of it all... does anyone have any knowledge or experience w/ unemployment?
