If you were paying more than your interest and the counseling fees they should have gone down. Did they negotiate lower interest rates or were they a debt settlement company that pays nothing on your debts then offers to settle them for less than full amount having you pay the taxes on the forgiveness? If they breached the contract you could sue them. Otherwise you just need to pay your bills.

See an attorney, and bring any and all records you have. You might have been scammed. OR You have probaly not known what you were getting into. These companies promise to make your life easier, but there is a fee for that, and if you have been paying a minimum amount to them, that probably just paid them to take care of what you should have done yourself, handle your own headaches. So, basically you just paid them to make you feel better. You have now wisened up, you are smarter now. So, call your credit card companies yourself, you do have the right to. Tell the Council service that you are going to end your relationship with them, and what proceedures do they ask. Not saying you should follow them, or pay them more. But be true to your signed agreement. Such as if there is a cancelation fee. Good Luck, I wish you well.

You defaulted in the credit card payments and the balance started rising. You had one company to deal with: your credit card company.

Then you accepted the services of credit card council service. So they must have started charging money for their services, useful or otherwise. They are there to earn money.
Then you had two companies to deal with, double problems.

Now what is the solution?
1. Why did you allow the credit card council service to provide their services? What did they promise you? Did they meet what they promised?
2. Immediately write, call and email (do all three) the credit card council service to stop their services and tell them that they did not do what they promised (if it is true).
3. If credit card council service did not provide proper promised services, ask for the refund of fees etc charged by them. Keep on call for refund.
4. Mean while settle with the credit card company. May be you can borrow money from someone else at a lower interest rate and pay the credit card company.
5. Talk you you near and dear ones about this problem and find out if anyone met similar problem and how she/he solved it.
(Whatever I have said is based on my common sense only, no experience in this field.)

Tee Tee is wrong
her advert for the website is another scam
they do not help you in any way
and as you have seen
a CCC service does not help either
if anything most hurt giving the person in debt a false sense of security and the debt being paid down
you have to pay the debt

Sounds like maybe you were scammed - there are a lot of scams out there. Did you question them during the three years what was happening? Or at the end of the three years?

That really stinks! Good luck from here on.

Jane

check into this website... www.fdi.com and let me know what you think. It is a REPUTABLE business and one of the features is that it helps you to RESTORE your credit! Credit Card Counseling Services usally are looked down upon.
The GOOD thing about Financial Destination, Inc (FDI) is that you join the business, take advantage of the products (CREDIT trax is one of them) and you earn a monthly residual income!!! You can check the creditability of the company online, but if you need to speak directly to me, email me at simplysensual9113@yahoo.com. Again the website is www.fdirep.com
