The state is court ordering my bf to put our daughter on his health insurance or a different one, she is currently on medicaid. He's asking me to put her on it so they don't have to go to court but I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that i've never had to switch an insurance provider before. The insurance issomething called Coxhealth...individual ppo somethin rather idk. I'm a bit confused on how to get her off medicaid and onto this other health insurance. Any suggestions?

If Countrywide or any other bank raised their relatively low CD rates, i'm sure they would be flooded with deposits. Countrywide just announced a $11.5 draw on their credit lines. I'm sure if Countrywide upped their CD rates to around the same rate that' s on the credit lines, around 6 1/2%, Countrywide could easily draw in $20+ billion in fresh deposits. In summary, I don't understand the headlines screaming "liquidity crisis" while banks are apparently not hurting at all for deposits and keeping their savings rates relatively low. Countrywide's highest yielding CD, for balances over $98,000, is 5.50%.

You'll never guess who my lender is: Countrywide! There's wide speculation that they will be bankrupt soon. Hey, maybe I should offer to loan them some money--at about double the interest rate they're charging me. Yeah, I'm sure they'd go for that.

Citibank thought I owed them about $100 when in fact they owed me about $2. So a collection agency sent me a letter. In the end, Citibank ended up paying me $2 and finally realized that I didn't owe anything, but Citibank did not follow up with the collection agency. They were quick to get the letter sent to me but couldn't care less about getting it removed. What can I do about this? There's no debt and never was, but I don't want a collection agency harassing me or adding false information to my credit report.

I am not sending the collection agency proof. By law it is the agency's job to send me proof if I request it (of course there is none). Can an agency send information to credit reporting agencies without sending me proof first?

My estranged spouse claimed head of household for tax year 2006 and I claimed our child. She states that we will alternate this arrangement after the divorce, how does this work since it seems that you must claim the child in order to claim the head of household status?

This is also a company that claims they give loans through private lenders. They also want some sort of collateral such as money up-front to secure the loan, car or house, or a co-signer with excellent credit that makes $40+ thousand a year. Does anyone have any information on this company? Please let me know. Thanks

Here it is a question regarding for the tax, last year, I hired a seasonal worker for me, and paid about $1200 for him, but since he is only working for about one month, I forgot to mention this to accountant, and no 1099 was filed.
Recently, I like to hire him back again, and ask him whether he filed tax return last year, he said he did, I think I may need to give him a 1099, but can not find anywhere.
Question is, can I still file 1099 for him ( for year 2006), if I can, what kind of procedure I should go through, is there any kind of penalty from IRS and state (NY state) ?
Thanks.

my husband and i are starting to hit that point where we have some extra money after all the bills & necessities are paid for .. we will be buying a house the first of next year and we really want to know which will work better for us in the long run..
we have about 10k in debt.. i think we should pay off as much as that so it will improve our credit score, get us a better intrest rate and elliviate those bills once we have a mortgage..
he says we shoud put everything extra into a savings account that earns 1-2% interest and either use that as a down payment or buy point on our interest to keep it lower
keep in mind we plan to do both, to a degree, but we aren't sure which one to focus more on.. pay off more debt or put more into savings..

I heard that if the orginal debt is written off, then a bill collector will buy it and the orginal company doesn't get the money, it goes to the Collection agency. So if this is true, then we don't have to pay our debts once the orgianl company charges them off. Right?
