Painters don't make as much as plumbers. Most work for painters is unskilled--you could have one guy who knows painting running three other guys who know nothing and get the job done. This makes it so that illegals, kids on summer vacation, and other people who work cheap will take most of the jobs (not to mention that a lot of people do their own painting to save money).

On the other hand, plumbers make a good bit of dough--I used to know a guy who taught a CPA course who would always joke that he should quit accounting and be a plumber to make more money. While I doubt most plumbers outearn accountants, if you eventually go into business for yourself you can make a good bit of money--have you ever got a bill from a plumber--their hourly billing rates are pretty good!

In the end, how sucessful you are as a plumber depends on the work and training you do. Some people are content to stay on the bottom, while others get specialized training, try to learn the tricky stuff, find someone who knows a lot to be friends with, and so on. A plumber can make between $10 and $30 an hour--how much you make after ten years will depend on what you did to improve your skills.

I have a lot of friends that work in construction. Painters, Plumbers, Carpenters, etc. Most everyone get along, except those that not want to work. They also work well with others as they come and go on a job. Many may lend tools that already on-site. It just an understanding, see a tool and need it, use it, put it back when you finished. When I work with them, I try to find the Beer and put the empties back when I finished. ;-)

Although I'm neither myself i do know people in both and i can tell u that plumbers make more money.
there is always someone needing something fixed, whether it b a bathroom, kitchen etc.
u would benefit from alot of homers and that's where most plumbers make there money.

Plumbers make by far the most money, but be warned, it is a dirty business and very hard work. You will get good pay, but you'll work for it.
