I have been to multiple sites and looked at houses for sale. Some of the houses were as cheap as 1600 for a 4 bd 2.5 bath home. There was another for 1000.

East Cleveland and other parts of Ohio were ground zero of the mortgage fraud rearing it's head across America. Cheap mortgages to people with no $$ and some outright loan fraud has created a wave of foreclosures with certain neighborhoods of Cleveland being hit very hard. To make matters worse, people have gone into vacant houses and stripped anything of value; woodwork, copper, aluminum siding; anything worthwhile gone so all that's left is the shell of a house surrounded by other vacant houses. It'll take years for some neighborhoods to recover, some may never recover. Cheap house if you want one, may require some work.

I have been to Cleveland many times and I sincerely doubt that anything that isn't an uninhabitable dump is that cheap.
