If she does this (claim me and claims head of household) can i still d it? I made only $3,500 in 2006 and i am a student (i am 17). So shouldn't i be able to file and get most, if not all my money black (of coarse not SS). I was just wondering bc she is worried that it will mess up her taxes. If u answer please link me so i can be sure.

Hi, I have about $1200 to put on credit card debt or contribute to my IRA for 2006 (I just started it and only have about $800 in the account). My credit card debt totals about $1300 at 15% interest. I am not sure if it will hurt me in the long term if I pay my credit cards rather than contribute. I appreciate your advice since I don't know much about this, thanks in advance for your help.

I've racked up quite a lot of debt due to internet gambling. I have quit gambling all together but now I'm stuck with paying off my bills. I'm a college student and have no money right now ~ I graduate in May. I paid on my cards as much as I could at first but the interest rates are so high that I haven't been able to pay on them. Most of my accounts have been turned over to collection agencies. What should I do here? I'll be able to pay when I graduate, but I'm worried about what will happen until then.

he came over and gave me and my husband this proposal called "TEAM" it's a way to make money by purchasing things that you already buy on a weekly basis. The way you save money is by cutting out all the middle men from the manufacturer to the customer....ex wholesaler, advertising, local wholesaler ect. The product comes directly to you from the manufacturer. The percent that you save on the inbetween stuff your supose to get back as a pay check. The more people you sign up under you, the more of a percentage you save on the products you buy, which then generates into a bigger paycheck. This sounds really too good to be true, and i was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it, and if it's a scam?

This will be my first year filing taxes in the state of IL. I am currently not enrolled into college but I worked part-time this past year and I earned about $4700. Is there anything I need to be aware of that can help benefit me or perhaps even something I need to be cautious about?

Also, I am not sure weather or not my parents claim me as a dependent or independent as I live at home and am unsure on how that will effect either mine or my parents taxes.

If my parents claim me as a dependent/indepenent how much money will benefit them?

If I claim myself as an independent/dependent how much money will benefit me?

Thanks!

Hello. I lost my job 1+ months ago and am now thinking of tapping into my IRA. Aside from the bank's penalty fee, what are the tax implications of doing this? I know I can get X amount out and if I return it (in full!) before 12/31 the IRS won't tax me. But what about if I withdraw the money (without the bank withholding)? How much should I set aside for taxes if I am not able to return the amount in full? Is this Federal and State or just Federal? Please, advise.
