I'm having trouble finding a part time job in the evening. I work from 12 to 5 during the day, and am trying to find something else. I've looked into babysitting, waitressing, beauty consultation, hostessing, hotel reception, arts and crafts....nothing seems to pan out. Nobody is hiring from say, 6 to 10 pm, which is what I need. Any ideas? Thanks! Oh...and I don't want to dance for Hardbodies.....Guess I should mention that I live in a small town...no stores open at night unless they are restaurants. And, I need to do something that earns me atleast $15/hr or $10/hr. under the table.

Long story made short my friend has a car that he still owes on and hasn't made payments on it in 6-7months. They haven't physically repo"d it b/c they can't get a hold of him. He now has the money to pay up his payments. He is telling me that he can pay up the payments then keep doing his monthly payments on time and it won't effect his credit? No way right? If so how?

HELP

I think I may have made a major mistake on my taxes by accident and just realized it.

I e-file my taxes each year and use the "Free File" program. In 2005, I used a different program than 2004, but this year Turbotax was offering a better deal so I went back to them.

Because I had used them in the past, they had my 2004 return on file..I was just looking at it and discovered that I claimed the Hope Credit...I totally forgot and claimed it in 2005.

All the tax forms say is that you can't claim both the Hope and Lifetime Learning credits in the same year....but I thought the Hope credit was a one time deal.

Last year I filed my return and it was accepted by the IRS without a problem, so maybe I'm wrong.

Please someone with experience shed some light on this for me! If am wrong, can they hold my refund this year, can be charged fines or go to jail? Thank you

I have a payment option mortgage that allows 4 different payments to the account. My mortgage officer never explained this option and I was told my monthly payment would be $422, the lowest of the four. In reality, if I make that payment, it doesn't cover any principle and only some interest, the rest of the interest defers and adds to the balance. The 1st payment, covering interest and priciple is 3x this amount. When I realized this and wanted to refinance, I found out I had a pre-payment penalty. Even if I refinance to a fixed rate with the same bank, they will only waive part of the penalty. How do I deal with this?

Our group has laid off may people and I have assumed their responsibilities. So, I alone, am doing what 4 guys were doing.
I don't have a problem with the amount of work but rather with the diversity. While fairly computer literate, I have a difficult time keeping up with the knowledge required by 4 people.
I am feeling incredibly guilty asking for training - even though I know it will help me on the job. I know this sounds crazy but I would like to hear what you think.

i'm interested in investing between 500-1000 month. i understand that the max roth ira is 4500. i'm over 30 and i have nothing to depend on for retirement. in 10 years just to start what could my return look like? with the max being 4500 for the ira, i'd like to build a portfolio with other sound investments. i may just go to the bookstore and pick up a book on investing, but until then, i'd appreciate any advice.

I have some projects to work on for my finance courses and I would like to be able to have Excel automatically download stock market data instead of me looking it up online and inputting it. I would need historical price data for stocks going back into the past, preferably at least 5 years. How can I do that without paying for some program?

I know that money.msn.com will allow me to download some data into Excel, but it's not good enough. I need historical data.

I am behind on my car payment by 1032.50 and the best I can do for now is give them 300.00 tomorrow. The Well Fargo representative threatened me, harrassed me and scolded me. I told her we are waiting for our W-2 to come in the mail so we file our taxes. Refund can pay off the balance we owe. Not the whole loan but it would bring us current. I also told her we would be taking an AD out in the paper too to see about selling the car. She went into a rant about how stupid I am and why didnt I do this months ago when my husband lost his job. I told her our situation and all I got was too bad lady we will take the car. What options do I have?

We had put our son into a daycare last year of March throughout the year but we were paying the daycare lady with personal checks. We once wrote out a check payable to her daycare but she was quick to ask us to re-write the check in her name. Well, here it is 2007, TAX TIME, and we had to request her tax info for filing purposes. First off, she completely ignores us and will not provide us with the EIN / SSN number (thats okay, we already reported it to the IRS) and we got copies of the checks (front and back) that we issued to her and she's made every single check payable to her sister. Do you think she is evading taxes by having her sister cash the check for her so she doesn't have to report income? Yes, yes, she may not have a checking account, but not giving someone your EIN/SSN for taxes (she COULD be tax-exempt but she still has to provide the information), ignoring phone calls/emails AND certfied letters..now this? What do you think??
