Interview question...moved to florida for a year...how to explain gap?

Question

hi, after working 10 yrs my husband and I decided to move to florida. We're from New Jersey. I left my position at the company in Jersey and relocated for a year with my 2 children in FL. (I did not work in FL the year we stayed there). How can I "word" this without giving too much unnecessary information to the interviewer.? Thanks so much for your help

honesty is the best policy. it isn't like you jumped around careers before your move - you have 10 years with the same company. moving to another state and taking a break isn't a bad thing. you are back and refreshed ready to start over. sounds like an ideal job canidate to me. i want something who saw what else there was and wants back!

you have nothing to worry about...be truthful and upfront about the situation. A decent company will not fault you for a small lapse in employment. You have very solid reasons t use for not having to work - hubby relo or tending to the kids, etc. You would be surprised how many true job hoppers there are out there...plus you have the stability if having run your own business for 10 years which make you look very solid - career wise!

I don't really see what's wrong with the truth. However, you could blame it on your husband's job, like say he got transferred there for a year, then they moved him back...making his employers sound like jerks might inspire your employers to not be jerks and hire you again...that my idea :D
