If I am cooking at home, all my meals and taking lunch to work. I have an expense of $30 per week, $120 to $130 per month. I tend to eat full meals, when I cook 4-5 meals are eaten.

It has taken me $200 just to set up the kitchen on the first day with all the seasons and things I use to make a meal. After set-up the figures above are where I stand. I invite my lady friend over and save on diner dates, we watch a video and have some wine or beer. Doesn't break my pockets and keeps me out of financial trouble.

$40-60 a week would be a reasonable amount per person. Some dinners I cook (like burgers and homemade mac and cheese or potatoes) may run $4ish each, but then we have steak occasionally too, $10-12 each. We shop at Whole Foods for meat, so it is more expensive than some grocery stores.

About $50.00-100.00
Shop at Wal-mart cheaper and better quality!
Do not shop when hungry you will spend more $.
Make a list and only buy what you need.
Most of your groceries will go on foods for the wkend. Since you can cook you will save lots. Make a big dinner Sunday night, and make it last for about 2 or 3 days during the wk.

Break it down depending on your habits. For me

Breakfast - way cheap $2 per day
Dinner - can vary and it is hard to cook for one with no waste. $3 to $7 per meal

Before I was married w/ kids I swapped dinners with friends several days a week, kinda like extended family. Reduced waste and leftovers and gave us an excuse to get together and try new food.

==> $50/week
