where/when do you get your state tax form and how do you fill it out?

does it come along with a federal one? do you need to do both? can you do them together? when one speaks of DOING THEIR TAXES, is this both state AND federal, or is it just federal. are they both due by april 15?

You can obtain tax forms on-line or you can go to the library if you chose. Forms do come separately: Instruction booklets are also available. The IRS has free tax help on-line also.

The deadline this year is April 16, since the 15th is a Sunday. Federal is due then, and every state that I know of has that same due date.

State filing and federal filing are separate. Some states don't have a state income tax, although most do. You can get state forms from your state website, and usually at your local library.

In CA, the forms and instructions are all available online. You can print it and write on it or do it on your computer and then print it, which is neater. You will have to include a copy of your federal return with your state return, so do that one first, then the state. They each get mailed to a separate place. The addresses are in the instructions.

Some post offices put out stacks of tax forms that you can just take for free. Those have pre-addressed envelopes to use to mail it in.

They're both due April 15th.

The state mails it to me, along with a booklet of instructions. They're also readily available at my local post office, and usually the library.

These are separate from the federal taxes, but yes, these too are due by April 15.

State forms are gotten in the same location you get IRS forms. Many post office have them and will order them is you ask. Many tax places will give you one for the asking.

Both taxes State & Federal are due 15April and both have seperate forms. You must do both.
