One of the major banks today has announced that they will charge £10 per calander month for there customers to have a current account (That is £120 per year). Now obviously monkey see monkey do, The others will probably follow suit. My question is...Do you think us brits are a bunch of wimps and will stand for anything. Why do we let ourselves get ripped off with everything. And what are your thoughts on being charged for having a bank account? Thank you.

I work two jobs (one full time and one part time) and with my medical conditions I miss a lot of work per month. Will they garnish both of my paychecks or can they only do one? I have been sending this lawyer checks for $10 - $25 per month what I can honestly afford to pay this debt. I'm also in the process of paying off my bankruptcy lawyer to get the case filed in court (They don't know this). Do you think there is a chance that if I call the lawyer they will work out something with me so my paychecks don't get garnished? My mother did this once with her's and it worked. I'm just worried because I'm going to honestly end up on the streets in about two months if I can't stop it. Any suggestions here please?

Me and the other half im 20 he's 22 together for 4 years. We know we want a house so were going to start saving for a deposit. Should we:

1. Jus open a bank account and you get what you put in

or

2. take a risk and invest the money in Funds through a life company where we're garanteed to get back what we put in with bonuses.. but you have to do it for a min of 5 years?!

Has anyone invested in Funds and stuff like that? How did it work for you?

I live in a seven year old apartment. I am on the top floor. I can normally hear my neighbor below me pounding the bass when they play video games. Anyhow, suprisingly enough, they complained to me today, that my wife (when she walks in her den), makes too much noise, lots of traffic they said by her feet. We are very gentle with the walking, and it's a "DOG" building, which means there are animals roaming on the floors.

What should I do? Or is there anything I can do?

First Direct have announced this morning that they will start charging customers £10 a month unless they 'deposit or maintain a balance of at leats £1,500 a month'.

There are measure customers can avoid to pay the charge. When interviewed the Cheif Executive said "If you do want to stay, then either please put more money into a relasionship with First Direct or buy a product from us, or pay the fee".

On explaining what a product should be he said, "either.. take a loan from us, a mortgage from us, or an insurance product".
I for one think that £10 a month is rediculous. I don't have that much and am glad I don't bank with First Direct.

What are you views on this situation?
