It depends on the price - obviously - but Nymex has a lot going for it.

They are the market leader in the energy derivatives area. They have just started moving trading from the floor to the screen. Exchanges in Europe have already gone through this process - the end result has always been massive cost savings and an explosion in trading volumes. Finally - they've cut a clever deal with CME to put their contracts on the world leading Globex trading system. Right now, Nymex are in a fight with InterContinental Exchange for business. Globex is in a different league to the system used by ICE and gives Nymex a huge advantage. It also makes it likely that once the CME/CBOT merger has gone through there will be a takeover offer for Nymex.

Well I guess everyone saw Cramer pumping this one. But I think everyone has to be bullish about the long-term prospects of this one.

Nymex Holdings Co., as it will be called after the offering, will offer 6 million shares to the public at a price of between $48 and $52 a share.

I wouldn't try to day-trade this sucker for a while though. I personally would look for a pullback and then buy and hold for one year.

Remember, BOT dropped about 20% the first couple of months before it started to take off again.

Yes, Yes, Yes.

Many of the exchanges have gone public over that last few years and months. The worst increasing by 82%. The best by 1300%. If you cannot get in on the IPO, which is about $52 right now and expect it to be higher at the offering, I'd pay upwards of 20 to 25 points over to get a hold of this stock.
