Well, for starters every government employee, whether federal, state or local is paid with tax dollars. Additionally, the federal, state and local governments enter into contracts with outside firms to do work that they themselves are unable or unwilling to do - for example, defense contractors. These contracts are paid for with tax dollars.

anyone working for the federal or state govt. for example, anyone working for the IRS, FBI, CIA, etc.

here in NYC we also have "city employees" like policemen, firemen, sanitation workers, bus drivers, etc.
residents of new york city pay local taxes which help fund the salaries of these employees.
