I have finished reading all books from Dan Brown. Now I am hooked into his style. I had chosen to read the first ever novel I ever read "Da Vinci Code" since I like intellectual mysteries thrillers, breaking codes and stuff like that. Prior to novels I used to read small stories like Nancy Drew Mysteries.

If somebody can identify with my taste, then please could you suggest similar books which are a must read?

I have read quite a bit of Stephen King and love some of his books such as Salems Lot, The Shining, The Stand, and Firestarter. I also have read some of Clive Barker books and enjoy the ones that have to do with horror - not fantasy. I also like H.P. LoveCraft and Richard Matheson. What are some of your favorite horror books or horror authors besides the ones mentioned above. I am trying to read some more interesting horror books. I am a 26 year old male and want horror books targeted towards adults.

I was reading a review by Plugged In, Focus On the Family. I was reading a review on the Harry Potter books, the seventh one specifically. The critic said that though the character development was great and the books themselves were good, that J.K.R. insisting on Love being her ultimate force instead of God makes them sinful or not wonderful books. He said that was what made the difference between Tolkien's and her books, but Tolkien didn't have God and Jesus in his books either.
I thought this was a bit contradictory. Further more, Rowlings books can be a wonderful parallel to Christianity if one is looking to make it into that. Harry always chooses good over evil and love over hate. I don't know, read the review if you want... http://www.pluggedinonline.com/articles/a0003326.cfm

and tell me what you think on the matter, but please, please, please..don't turn this into a a place where you generalize and say "All Christians are so closed minded..and so forth. Thanks guys!

Hey, I need help. Here is my question: Pick three of the four values(hospitality, honor the gods, honor the family, seek knowledge and wisdom) and pick a character you can relate this to as well as an "opposite." Who can I pick? Just need the characters to get started.

Bleeding deeply,
Seriously in wound
Severely broken
With a heartbreaking doom.
Twisting and turning,
I can't stop the pain.
I'm dying inside,
I'm slattered and slain.
The words that you said
before you had left
Cried me to sleep,
Though it was for the best.
"I don't want you"
and "Never Existed"
When I shouted "No!",
I was being selfish and twisted.
But when I hide in the dark,
Like I'm doing right now,
I'll prey that you come back,
Someway, Somehow.

(Its based on how Bella Swan feels in New Moon.)

How do you describe screaming...aside from writing 'ahhhhhhhh,' which of course is quite lame. I can describe it, but I haven't been able to get it to sound like she was filled with terror. Any ideas?

I'm writing a english paper on To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. (It's a awesome book!) and the assignment is a critical len essay... so i need to interpret this quote: "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in movement of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” - Martin Luter King Jr.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the quote, but I don't know how to express them onto my paper. So help me out, in your own words... can you explain the quote? (WITHOUT USING THE WORDS IN THE QUOTE) :]

Much appreciation!
