Yesterday was on off day, lots of real work to do. Today, I am 2 pages into Chapter V. The editors have Chapters I-IV. It might suck. They are stunned into silence. The publicist in Minnesota likes it, but he's on the payroll...

I could use your help. I'm writing a book series very much like Cussler's Dirk Pitt books, and I got the entire first book all planned out EXCEPT the main character. I know who the bad guys are, what their sinister far-fetched plot is, and what will happen in the end battle. It is very Clive Cussler-ish, I just am lost when it comes to my main character. The ending is very Cusslerish though. Imagine the Sahara ending times 4.

The character basically needs to travel like Pitt does, happens to be in the area in time to save someone, then sniffs around and hunts down the sinister people. I just don't know what his job is in the book.

Right now I'm thinking of a zoologist, Steve Irwin type, but I'd like any suggestions.

Its a great book though - its a lot like Treasure or Inca Gold. The title is "Columbian Death". The main character's name is Trevor Knight. I'm on chapter 4 and need the main character to enter. Help! I'll love you forever!

A Six-Word story is simply that; a story of 6 word,s no more no less.

The idea came from Hemmingway, when he wrote, "For sale, baby shoes. Never used." He is said to have called it his finest work.

So basically you can be funny, express a deep moral, make sociopolitical insight, or even just describe a scene--but you have to use exactly 6 words.

Examples can be found here:
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.11/sixwords.html

Here are some of mine too:
1) Even superheroes need to grieve sometimes.
2) From space, the world looks peaceful.
3) Epitaph: "No, no! The OTHER right!"
4) Earth goes on strike; feels abused.

I'll judge the winner based on what I think is best. Have fun!

I love to read, but have no time to cruise the aisles of my local bookstore. I am reading Tom Perrota's "Abstinence Teacher" now, and love it.

I'm in my mid 30s, married with one child. Love to laugh, hate true "Harlequin" books but have been known to enjoy "Shopaholic" and "Bridget Jones".

Can you share some suggested authors/books? No science fiction, interesting mystery/intrigue okay, no gore or scary themes. Like some of the Oprah books, nothing too heavy, prefer fiction.

No Tolkien, religous of any sort and prefer current (last ten to twenty years) I had too much English lit in colege!

Thanks! All suggestions welcome
