I have finished reading all books from Dan Brown. Now I am hooked into his style. I had chosen to read the first ever novel I ever read "Da Vinci Code" since I like intellectual mysteries thrillers, breaking codes and stuff like that. Prior to novels I used to read small stories like Nancy Drew Mysteries.

If somebody can identify with my taste, then please could you suggest similar books which are a must read?

I echo the recommendation for "The Rule of Four" by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason.

I also highly recommend any of the Brother Cadfael books by Ellis Peters. The history is better than Dan Brown's (though "Angels and Demons" was better historically than "The Da Vinci Code").

Lindsey Davis' Marcus Didius Falco is a good Roman mystery series.

If you like Nancy Drew and historical mysteries try Caroline Lawrence's ancient Roman mystery series.

Another author I would suggest is Arturo Perez-Reverte. "The Flanders Panel" and "The Club Dumas" have the same sort of mystery puzzle style as "The Da Vinci Code." If you like that aspect of it, you might also like Katherine Neville's works such as "The Eight" or Umberto Eco's works such as "The Name of the Rose." Reviewers have taken to saying that Neville, Eco, and Brown make a trio of good reading. If you like one of those authors, you will probably like the other two. Some other books you might like are "The Dante Club" and "The Poe Shadow" by Matthew Pearl and "The Rule of Four" by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. All of these books basically follow the same theme of a race to solve a puzzle by following scattered clues and they are all very well written.

If you like reading non-fiction, about what goes on nowadays - I recommend these two -

1) "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader"
written by Bradley K. Martin

2) "Rogue Regime"
written by Jasper Becker

These two well-written books give an insight about the North Korean Government.

Fiction?

Try all the books written by Clive Cussler.

The hero is Dirk Pitt, with his sidekick Al Giordino. These are well-written.

Try some of Poe's works, as he really popularized detective and code novels (like the Gold Bug).
