I had a homework assignment to go to the book store and look at ten books to get the authors name, title of the book, publisher, and copyright information. Do I title my paper works citied or bibliography?

I'd call it a selected bibliography. Strictly speaking, a bibliography (without a modifier) is a list of every source on the subject, but a selected bibliography would be a few you picked out. Works Cited means just that--the books, articles, etc., actually referred to in a paper. Since you're just getting started, you haven't written the paper yet and can't have cited those books.
