Trying to remember the author and title of a short story.
In the story, the world is horrifically overpopulated, and people live in overcrowded squalor; all the buildings have been divided into tiny living cubicles just big enough for a bed and a suitcase. One man accidentally discovers that his cubicle has a covered-over door, and behind it is a big empty room that was apparently boarded up years earlier and forgotten. To him it is unimaginable luxury, but he makes the mistake of letting a few other people know it is there, and eventually he winds up with a bunch of leeching roommates.
Title and/or author? Anyone?
