I don't like to read, I LOVE to read ... as soon as I have finished a book, I put it away and open my 'to be read' cupboard and take out my next book. I read mostly science fiction/fantasy or mystery, but I also like 'thrillers' and very occasionally, if it is well written, I'll read a 'romance' (usually historical or with a 'fantasy' to it).
My FAVORITE books are:
ANYTHING WRITTEN by C.S. Lewis ... from 'The Chronicles of Narnia' (7 books in the set, for young people) to his Christian apology books, the BEST of which is 'Surprised by Joy.'
Anything written by J.R.R. Tolkein, start with The Hobbit, read the trilogy The Lord of the Rings, and then read his other books.
Imajica by Clive Barker ...
Anything by Elizabeth George (mystery)...
Anything by Stephen Lawhead (sf/fant) ...
Okay, my list of 'must reads' could go on for several pages ... but anyone who wants a 'really good read' would be quite happy with any of these books ... try something NEW and maybe you can come up with your OWN list of 'all time good books.'

I love to read about romance. I think that an all time favorite would be a book called Flyy Girl by Omar Tyree. This is a great book.

The Stand by Steven King....the beginning is just eerie as heck. It could happen in real life. I also like the Clan of the Cavebear series by Jean Auel. It gives you a glimpse of what life was like in the beginning and the inovations that gave us the basics that we have today. Another good author is Edward Rutherford. One of my favorites is London. It follows a family in England from the beginning, through the Roman invasion, the building of the city...lots of history mixed with a story line.

Literary fiction is the best. You can read, reread, and reread again, and always discover something new in the text.

Try some of my favorites:

Moby Dick, by Herman Melville
Visions of Cody, by Jack Kerouac
Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, by Nick Flynn
Clown Girl, by Monica Drake

Happy Reading!

i absolutely love all of the dan brown books. my favorite was probably angels and demons. i also really like catcher in the rye. these are all the books that i would have no problem re-reading. otherwise the series of sisterhood of the travelling pants isn't too bad. i don't really remember all of them though.
