If you had no limitations, and you knew you were going to die in exactly one month from now, how would you react? What would you do? Would you make any changes? Would you mend, or break bridges? Would you travel to a far off land, or stay at home? Would you be a sinner or a saint?

The late Kurt Vonnegut Jr., widely known one of the best American novelists of the second half of the twentieth century, was a self-proclaimed "Humanist". I know in one of his works he gives his own definition of what it means to be a Humanist. Does anyone know which book it is?

There are wrongs darker then death or night
wrongs that make you scream in fright.
Darker then night is murder and it's color is black.
For the creature who kills has no soul, this his body must lack
Hatred stares death in the eye
for this many a good soul had to die.
Stealing, lying, cheating are only a few
of the evils that men do.
All of these things are wrong
but we have set aside a place for them to belong.
It's okay to tell a lie
It's okay to steal
It's even okay to kill
For the wrong that's darker then death or night
is the legal killing of an unborn child who didn't even have the chance to say "I don't want to die"

Almost Gone

I reached into my breast and pulled my heart out
holding it in my trembling hands
I was so amazed to see how little I had left
There was just a tiny bit of flesh pulsing there
Tears started to flow down my face so slowly
One teardrop fell upon my heart, it sparkled and shimmered
and slowly sank into what was left of my heart.
Years of such terrible pain and loss had caused my heart
to almost disappear.
With hands shakiing with grief I placed what was left of
my heart back into me
Clasping my hands I went down on my knees
looking up I prayed to God
"Please let me keep this small part of me, my heart is almost gone, keep me safe from letting anyone steal what is left of me"

A Perfect Night

A perfect night
from dusk to dark
and dark to dawn.
Darkness breeds
fades away to breeze
and breath of
summer's swaying trees.

Lovers are born
on bicycles
walking down the street
they smile awhile
touching hands
nothing seems out of spite

Barry and Betty
each say to themselves
and part ways

Sooo I was studying my ancestry, which is difficult because my biological father is estranged from us and from what I know, his father was estranged from him long before that. Anyway, I came across his father, my grandfather, and he lived a fascinating life as an author and I really enjoyed reading about him and his work and I found his address. I thought about writing him a letter and maybe sending him a pic of my brother and me but I'm hesitant because I don't want to freak out this 80 year old man but maybe he would appreciate it? I feel strange reading all of this stuff from him and seeing his picture, but he has no idea about me.

What do you think? Just keep it to myself or try to contact?

In darken lands, man strives.
Hand to mouth, he survives.
Good and evil war, one is slew.
Into moon beams a soul did flew.
Now stands alone, unknown one thrives.

I'm 13 and I'm a singer/actress. My dream is for broadway and I would really think getting an agent is necessary. The problem is, I have no idea how to get one. How do you get one? How much does it actually cost? HELP! Thank You [I know I'm really young but I still would like to know, even if I do not get an agent right now. Thank You]
