Mediocrity tends to be given a rather unfair treatment by the intellectuals. I think that mediocrity is something laudable, at least in politics, because it ensures a weak state and a free people. The demands of excellence in politics on the part on socialist theorists, have lead to totalitarian dictatorships. Should we celebrate mediocrity as the highest virtue?.

If an agent has a turn over time of 1-2 weeks, there is a possibilty that IF the agent responds back, I will be away. Is it unprofessional to make the agent wait? Or should I just wait until I get back from vacation?

We know Cristopher Columbus, but now we hear about the Vikings (Vinland map and artefact findings) in 1000 something, the Chinese Admiral Zheng He with his treasure fleet (South America) 75 years before Columbus, and even some rumors about Solomon who would have sent an expedition to America 1000 years before Christ!! So I want to know, who REALLY found this place after the initial waves of immigrations from the Beiring straits (please dont tell me mongolia)?

Should any kind of publisher ask for money from you before publishing your work?I've been on the internet and have find that a lot of these places ask for money.I'm just tryin' to get a short story out there and HOPEFULLY, some how, make some small amount of change out of it...If I'm lucky! But its so damn hard.Especially for short stories. You can't find anyone out there.Or real places out there.

Suggestions?

Example: There is no heaven or hell. You are here, then you die, so, in the end it doen't matter if you are a murderer or rapist. It is all a matter of personal comfort and what you want to do with the time you have until you die.Others not liking you is no reason not to do what you want to do.

It is better to be ruled by a tyrant (since then there is only one person committing bad deeds). than a bad democracy (since here all the people are now responsible for such actions)

Rose:

About the art:
Nathan Janes has announced the recent completion of a pop art painting celebrating the upcoming 80th Academy Awards to be held in February of 2008. With increasing numbers of movies being produced with dogs as the leading stars, particularly this year, Janes says he was inspired to portray the link between dogs and Hollywood. The painting, titled "Rose," features the highly recognized "Oscar" kept company by a fashionable terrier somewhere along a star-studded red carpet. The painting is characteristic of Janes' Pop ARF style in that it combines a vibrant depiction of what could be a the star of a blockbuster with a pop culture symbol of today.
