I highly reccomend Bitten By Kelley Armstrong if you like paranormal stories. For a great book with a little bit of humor I suggest Eat, Pray, Love By Elizabeth Gilbert. It's a true story about a woman on a search to find herself. Very good read. For a littlr more humor I reccomend the Stephanie Plum series By Janet Evanovich. As for thrillers in general, I reccomend:
Intensity By Dean Koontz
When the Wind Blows By James Patterson
Deep Storm By Lincoln Child
Thunderhead and Riptide by Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child

Hey have you read "the house of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer its really interesting book hear read the back.

"Matteo Alacran was not born; he was harvested. His DNA came from El Patron, lord of a country called Opium--a strip of poppy fields lying between the united states and what was once called Mexico. Matt's first cell split and divided inside a petri dish. Then he was placed in the womb of a cow, where he continued the miraculous journey from embryo to fetus to baby. He is a boy now, but most consider him a monster-- escept for El Patron. El Patron loves Matt as he loves himself, because Matt is himself.

As Matt struggles to understand his existence, he is threatened by a sinister cast of characters, including El Patron's power-hungry family, and he is surrounded by a dangerous army of bodyguards. Escape is the only chance Matt has to survive. But escape from the Alacran Estate is no guarantee of freedom, Matt is marked by his difference in ways he doesn't even suspect"

Eva Rice - The lost art of keeping secrets. It looks and sounds really girly but it is a great book about the 1950s when a young girl discovers Elvis and meets some really interesting people who happen to be more than they seem.... I really recommend it.

Quintin Jardine - kill two boirds with one author as it were - The Oz Blackstome series are a comedy / crime caper and brilliantly light but not fluffy and the Bob Skinner books are dark, brooding and very twisty turny crime novels - super author who more people should read.

I always recommend my favorite author, James Patterson. He writes alot of suspense-type books and every one is great. You can look into him at www.jamespatterson.com. Of course, Stephen King is up there too, but if you don't like all out horror, he does have some tamer ones, like Bag of Bones, one of my favorites. His short story collections are zany and fun (Everything's Eventual, as the above said, plus Four Past Midnight, NightMares and Dreamscapes - all really good!)....have a good holiday!
