About the art:
Nathan Janes has announced the recent completion of a pop art painting celebrating the upcoming 80th Academy Awards to be held in February of 2008. With increasing numbers of movies being produced with dogs as the leading stars, particularly this year, Janes says he was inspired to portray the link between dogs and Hollywood. The painting, titled "Rose," features the highly recognized "Oscar" kept company by a fashionable terrier somewhere along a star-studded red carpet. The painting is characteristic of Janes' Pop ARF style in that it combines a vibrant depiction of what could be a the star of a blockbuster with a pop culture symbol of today.

Rose was a commissioned piece and is the dog's name so that's why it's titled so .

I like to title some of my paintings with the dogs name if they are a real dog and not just made up in my head.

Great piece of pop-art. Made me smile. The detail shows how small the painting is where as the full shot it could be as big as the side of a building.

Great colors and control. You make it look so simple that I find it impressive ( no amateur will get that line). I could not do it and I don't even say that about van Gogh. :)

I like it a lot, it reminds me a little of Warhol or Lichtenstein almost. Good job, I love the subject matter!

Unimpressive.

Stylistically it is good, but the placement of the subject matter is a little disconnected.

Better than a lot of things that people post on here. What do you think of my self portrait?

its cool but you need to make it seem more artistic and change the name because 'Rose' seems like it would be a pot of roses not a dog.
