There is no quick way to learn anything that you want to learn correctly and well, the best way to learn is to take lessons, if you can't afford that get someone at Sam Ash to direct you to a good method book in the style that you want to play, one that has a Cd in the back so that you can follow your progress. Why does everyone think that they can learn to play the guitar overnight, it takes months just to get callouses and to establish the hand muscles that you need in order to play, have you tried to make an F cord, there's no easy way to do anything on guitar, it's a slow process, you have to do daily exercises to to make your fingers familiar with the cords, notes, strings, not to mention learning to read music. Did you learn how to read quickly, I think not, it took time and study. So unless you have a photogenic mind and your a genius with a musical ability there's no short cut in learning the guitar. There is one thing you could do, and that's just learn a few cords like, C, D, G, simple F, Dm, Am, E, E, with these cords you could play hundreds of songs, but you still have to get your fingers and hands adjusted to do this, once you learn a few cords like F and G you'll see what I'm talking about. For about the first three months your fingers and hands will hurt, after you get callouses and with daily practice that will diminish.

In lieu of taking lessons consider purchasing Hal Leonard's Guitar Book Method #1. Inside are instructions to tune, hold, and play the guitar. And as important are basic chords to form and memorize. Basic music theory is also taught and there are easy ways to learn what notes belong on each string, accompanied by exercises.
Of course, the book won't show you how to avoid certain bad habits you will form or short cuts that will allow instant changing of chords, but you might be able to correct them through friends or acquaintances that play guitar.
As mentioned already, there is no short and quick path to instant guitar playing. It isn't accomplished overnight or in a month's time. Your first hurdle is to build the calluses on your fingertips. If you are able to do that, then you can be on your way to playing.

Assuming u have 1 & it's in tune. Get a chord book. Learn 2 or 3 easy chords - A D E are good.Learn each chord on its own then practise changing between them. There are loads of songs using these 3 chords. They will start u off. Eg: Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, Johnny B Goode, Fun, Fun Fun. OK these are from the sixties, but that was the era of the best music. Hope this helps.

Learn to read tabs. They are very easy to learn and require no ability to actually learn notes and pitches. Then just mess around with your favorite song for long enough and it will sound like you know what you are doing.
Of coarse this is by no means the way to actually get good per say, but you didn't ask about getting good, you asked for the fastest, and tabs are it.
