"Truth is stranger than fiction." This is *the* reference quote for most folks but, what purpose does it serve other than just sounding good?

I think stories no matter how reality-based will remain stories. In fiction, everything has a reason- someone's death, someone's success, someone's pain... The writer has to justify nearly everything in a story.

Can it be compared to real lives where things have no reason or order.... or do they?

P.S. I just made up this question after reading the preface of a story book. I hope you like the question.

....he might just have saved his crown and inadvertently helped George III keep his American colonies. I do not know enough about the American War of Independence to know if the French influenced the outcome, but if it did it kind of makes ol' Louis the accidental architect of Liberty, no?

Which is ironic coz Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness were denied to him and his family by the revolutionaries

being a beginning photographer, I take pictures then edit some of it a bit. Maybe the contrast, coloring, sharping it. I think started to think that if maybe if I continued to editing it, will I be a good photographer later on?

So, I was just wondering if editing pictures was a good thing.

Thanks.

Isn't this fact astonishing? How can something so big that happened in your lifetime be so irrelevant to one's life? I heard this fact this afternoon on a radio station and THEN the DJ went on to say that 95% know what the date was (as in Sept. 11)... How could you NOT KNOW?! Sometimes I wonder what this world i coming to.

So I just wanted to know your opinions on these two facts.

(I know what year it happened, so please don't leave responses saying: 2001!)

Yes, in the event of death the body of a person is either buried or cremated and the soul of the person is supposed to go to the other world. What will happen to that person?

I am interested in all of the 20th century, but especially poems and poets from the last half of the century and the present.

I like poems that are accessible but of genuine literary merit. Please do not include those massive textbooks, like the Norton Anthology. Also you do not need to include the Best American Poetry series; they are very interesting, but I have a complete collection of those already.

The most common place for mining the wax is in northern New Jersey, but it is also bountiful in western Canada. Right this minute, there are about 97,000 miners mining for beeswax in North America alone. Currently Sony Electronics owns the rights to 90% of the beeswax mines on the Western Hemisphere.

Factoid: In the early 1800's beeswax was first discovered in an abondoned coal mine in north west Japan. The man who discovered it managed to obtain 17 tons of the wax, by mining it. When a friend of him ask to borrow some, his response was "Mine your own beeswax!" Of course the person was American, and misinterpretted the man for saying "Mind your own beeswax!" due to his Japanese accent, hence the expression.
