How do I need to prepare the canvas before painting on it, so that the uneven surface will be smooth?

Will just a layer of paint do it, or is there special product for it? If paint, how much?

Thanks!

For those who haven't read the book. It is a Scifi about racist time travelers that supplied the confederacy with weapons from the future hoping to stem the liberation of slaves.

I'm talking about the script. Man our teacher is a monster, and he keeps on rejecting our proposals. Does anybody know any good title for a college production play (and no, we can't write our own script, it has to be from some acclaimed writer or something)? The important thing is that the play has to be developmental, and that it has to depict a social issue (poverty, divorce, etc.) Please help. Titles are appreciated, but websites and direct links will be honored.

Do you believe that whatever we are began long before this life, and that there may not even be either a "beginning" or an end at all (many Eastern philosophies)?

Or do you believe that your beginning was with birth (atheists, humanists, Jewish, Christian, and Islamic philosophies)?

If you believe our beginning was at birth, do you believe that our end will come with death (atheists, secular humanists, etc.)?

You see, I believe in the eternal nature of what we are, physically and spiritually, scientifically and philosophically ...... But I'm truly interested in how you perceive us: Are we eternal? ...... Without beginning, and without end?

If so, does that not make Prince Charming from Snow White a necrophiliac? And Prince Charming is necrophilic, would Fairy Tales still be suitable for kids since they are all just as twisted? :)

I live in China. I'm constantly heckled and cat-called by many locals here. This, although not very refined, is certainly not seen as an insult by Chinese people. The insult is just in my head, due to my having grown up in America where such behavoir isn't acceptable.
I love living here, and I want to stay. But I find myself pissed-off almost once an hour at the way many people treat me.
Many Chinese people have explained why some folks act this way toward me, and there are very understandable reasons. But no matter how much I come to understand, it still pisses me off and the result is that I'm a jerk to about half the people I meet on the street. Usually because I have just taken what they've said or done as an insult.
I guess my delima is how to put intro practice what know I should do. How can I overide my basic cultural reflexes and better adapt to my environment? What I was taught as a child is nonfunctional here. Maybe I should just grow up. Thanks.

For Edda (Hillary Tham)

I would I were a god…
that I might tip the immortal scales
in your favour
in life’s encounters.
I would have your life beautiful
With many flowers and evergreen grass
And the glory of love;
And the tranquillity of deep waters.

But since I am not a god
Being only mortal, as you are,
I would give you all I can :
The warmth of love when you are tired
and chilled from sorrowful winds,
a hand in choosing a monsoon drain;
and I would sing you songs
picking for you a rock or flower especially beautiful,
as we wander in the drying grass;
And we shall dance together when the rains come
Our glad voices filling the rain-dampened sky.
