I am interested in all of the 20th century, but especially poems and poets from the last half of the century and the present.

I like poems that are accessible but of genuine literary merit. Please do not include those massive textbooks, like the Norton Anthology. Also you do not need to include the Best American Poetry series; they are very interesting, but I have a complete collection of those already.

The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry.

It contains a lot of well knowns- Ginsberg,Williams,P.Smith, but a lot of underground poerty that's great but gets lost in the shuffle.

This will probably only fit the bill if you are intersted in beat/neo-beat poetry, but I hope it helps, it's quite a tome, but will provide endless hours of poetry grazing. (i.e. I still haven't finished it)

I have several editions of Contemporary American Poetry, published by Houghton Mifflin (ISBN 0-618-04299-7). A. Poulin, Jr., edited the first six editions, and the seventh edition is edited by Poulin and Michael Waters. This book contains a wide array of contemporary poets, whose work is alphabetically arranged by author's last name. The editors include four or five pages of each poet's work, and it gives an excellent introduction to poets so that you can then look for their individual publications.
