You are right to think that your "spirit" or "soul" is integrated with your body. It creates a contradiction if I presume there is something left after the body decays that can still be called "I". Rather than debate the meaning of that contradiction, I prefer to acknowledge that the only way "I" live on after my body dies, is in the memory of people who knew me while I lived. After some time, those impressions and ideas that were mine, will have separated, altered, and been incorporated in new thoughts and ideas that are no longer recognizably "me". This is much like the way my body will decompose and be eaten and reused in other plants or animals that also cannot be recognized as "me". But the world will still be different for my contributions, in some small way. I believe that is the only way to imagine my existence after death, that does not lead to insoluble contradictions like the one you propose.

You r but a combination of body & soul explicitly. Not a bit more not a bit less!!!
Nothing remains, after ur soul moves up & body down. U just create a vaccum where u were after the departure of ur body & soul

The thing that is your concious mind is actually your functioning brain. Memory is a brain function. Co-ordination is a brain function. Intelligence is a brain function. Emotions are brain functions. The ability to understand words, turn them in to ideas, process those ideas, and turn those ideas in to a verble response is a brain function.
Our personal traits or talents are things that were partly inherited from our parents and grandparents as well as learned from childhood.
There is no evidence that we go on after we die.
Historically, people were told that they could go to Heaven after death if they behaved themselves and went to church. What a great way to control people. Religion does a great job at controlling people now.

your energy is what leaves your body and "you" are still in that energy, you just have to wait for another body, another child to be conceived, and you will be born again.
here is how someone once explained it to me, it is like rain, inside every raindrop is a small dust particle that condensation forms arround, then it falls out of the sky and down to the earth, the dust particle would be "your body" the water "your soul". when the rain comes to the ground, the water stays for a while until it finally evaporates back up into another cloud to condense arround another dust particle and the process happens again.

The self or the Iness is the soul. The body is material, not part of who You really are.

Your mind is not physical your body is. The body supports the mind and the mind supports the soul and it is even less physical
That 'person will always exist ... just because we all are now.
That ' person ' is ... always. OK?

I named personal God Soul.
I named Soul Quantum of Light.
Why?
Because, from all particles, only and only the quantum of light is a privileged particle.
Only the speed of a light quantum in Vacuum has
a maximal, constant, absolute quantity of c=1.
No other particle can travel with the speed c = 1.
If quantum of light always flies rectilinearly c=1, it is a mad one.
Is he (it) really mad?
No.
In Vacuum, in a condition of rest its internal impulse is equal to zero h=0.
But Quantum of Light has two kinds of internal impulse.
1)Under one internal impulse (Planck,s spin h =1)
a quantum of light flies rectilinearly with speed (c = 1).
A quantum of light behaves as a particle.
2) Under other internal impulse
(Goudsmit-Uhlenbeck's spin ħ = h / 2pi)
a quantum of light rotates around of his diameter and is known as electron.
A quantum of light behaves as a wave.
Very strange particle is quantum of light.
Quantum of light stays in Vacuum and on it nobody and nothing renders influence.
It is independent and makes a decision in which of three conditions it occurs.
1. In a condition of rest its internal impulse is equal to zero h=0.
2 .In a condition of uniform rectilinear movement its impulse h=1.
3. In a condition of rotation around of his diameter its impulse Ñ =h/2Ï.
So it can work only with particle that has his own consciousness.
They are alive, spiritual particles.
His own consciousness is not static but can develop.
The development of conscious scale goes " from vague wishes up to a clear thought ".
This evolution proceeds during hundred millions (billion) years.
