George W. Bush was visiting an elementary school, and the 4th grade class he sat through began a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked the President if he would like to lead the class in a discussion of the word “tragedy.” So, George W. asked the class for an example of a tragedy.

One boy stood up and said, “If my best friend who lives next door is playing in the street and a car comes along and runs him over, that would be a tragedy.”

“No,” said Bush, “that would be an accident.”

A girl raised her hand and said, “If a school bus carrying 50 children drove off a cliff, killing everyone on board, that would be a tragedy.”

“I’m afraid not,” the President said. “That’s what we would call a Great Loss.”

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. President Bush searched the room and asked, “Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?”

Finally, way in the back of the room, Johnny raised his hand, and in a quiet voice, he said, “If Air Force One, carrying Mr. and Mrs. Bush, was struck by a missile and blown up to smithereens, THAT would be a tragedy.”

“That’s right! And can you tell me WHY that would be a tragedy?” asked the President.

“Well,” Johnny said, “because it wouldn’t be an accident and it sure as hell wouldn’t be a Great Loss…”

I am now 36weeks pregnant. At 34 weeks me and my husband had been for dinner at Hard Rock restaurant. The music was very loud there and we sat there for an hour. I had worn a jacket to muffle the loudness from baby. I didn't know how dangerous the loud music is for baby. Will this affect my baby's hearing? Please, share your experience or what you know about it....
Thanks

I have Donovan McNabb, who cant run but may be getting LJ back and is going up against a weak pass defense in (my) Minnesota Vikings.

I also have "Gunslinging again" Brett Favre. He is coming off a bye and playing on Monday night, although it will be against Denver. Denver will have both Dre Bly and Champ Bailey playing.

I think that since my Vikings are involved my heart is invading my decision making. Our D can chase down a slow McNabb and may end up scoring with the D.

Now GB cant run and Denver will stack against the pass with a great secondary. I can see Brett trying to force it anyway and throwing more picks than TD's. But then again they are coming off a bye and Im sure they have tried to reel Brett back in all week.

Donovan may just concentrate on short timing pass plays and utilize LJ and Westbrook. The weakness of the Vikings is the 5-11 yard quick pass and then YAC. Whats your take on this? PLEASE SUPPLY COMPLETE ANSWER WITH EXPLANATION. NOT JUST ONE NAME!

I have all nine x files box sets, plus a ton of single x files episodes on video. But seeing now many years on from buying them in video format I now have them all on DVD.
My question is are they really worth selling on Amazon/ebay.
Its either that or my first choice being give them all to charity. Your thoughts please.

I went to the layout of a dear friend today. She died after a long illness. I was out of control of my emotions and could not stop crying...and I was the only one there doing that. Even her kids were in better shape. Knowing that her kids will be reading poems to her at the service, and there were many other highly emotional things planned, I decided not to attend the funeral itself. I knew I couldn't go through with it and not be hysterical. So I said my goodbyes and came home. (layout was all morning- funeral is going on now someplace else.) Now I feel so guilty that I didn't go, and it's too late to go back. Is it ok to decide not to attend the funeral service if you know you won't be able to conduct yourself well?

Please don't be cruel here. I just got back from her layout and talking to all her family and other friends. I'm still just sobbing.

I asked this a little while ago
But ive been told ive been far to vague

OK.
Well i just have that instinct that my pc isnt running at full potential, thats all... and its ocassionally being slow.. sometimes im named lagger in multiplayer games that arent the most graphics powering.

This is my spec:
AMD athlon 62 x2 4400+ (2.3ghz) AM2
2gb ram - twinx (dual channel) 800mhz corsair
500w coolermaster psu
160gb hard drive etc...
7800gt XFX graphics

My hard drive is a standart sata 7200rpm. Its not full, ive only just reinstalled my OS (win xp pro) because of slowness to my system. So its very free of space.

It should have adequate cooling. 1 120mm fan at the front, 2 80mm fans at the rear and an 80mm fan at the side, also a big fan on my psu and a new arctic cooling cpu cooler.

I havent overclocked at all.
All my components are getting seen by programs such as cpu-z, everest etc.. so my 2gb ram, graphics etc are all getting seen.

I fink its a BIOS/drivers problem

The majority Protestant view is that of unlimited atonement, meaning that Christ died for everyone, but salvation requires that one to have faith in Jesus to receive it. A minority view says that Jesus's atonement was limited, and only apples to the "elect" who God has chosen (anyone else, even those who believe, are not saved) - this is the Calvinist view.

I've often wondered why there is a requirement that anyone believe in Jesus to receive salvation. Wouldn't the greatest gift of all to a damnable population be that Jesus died for us, whether we wanted him to or not, or whether we believed in him or not? I.e. -- can't Jesus's death be the salvation of the guy who says, "Pshaw! I don't even believe there was a Jesus!"?

I am wondering if there are any denominations or movements in Christianity, now or in the past, that said that Jesus saved even the non-believers. Anyone?

The Brazilian electrician shot dead by police who thought he was a suicide bomber had been acting in an "aggressive and threatening manner" when confronted by officers, a court heard on Friday. Menezes was walking to the station, buying a ticket and getting on the train - well if that is behaving in an agressive manner, what chance have we got with a few drinks inside us.
The murder of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was gunned down as he boarded an underground train at Stockwell tube station in south London was a "terrible accident", said the lawyer defending the capital's force which is on trial for breaking health and safety laws. But he had been behaving "aggressive and threatening manner". De Menezes was shot seven times in the head for being agressive and threatening against 6 armed police officers??

Agressive manner??? no one else on the train saw his "agressiveness" Just what do our police do when confronted by a really agressive person, nuke him?

I been having a problem with the tranny. the test said it was either the filter and seal or the pump. well the filter and seal is changed and running fine, i still don't trust it out of town though. because.....
the pan had a little screw and metal shavings/ chunks on the bottom. I'm thinking the tranny is shot....with a few more small trips to the store....

it is high miles. the fliud was had some scum on the bottom of the pan but other wise a nice red color.

so whats the metaland screw from? thats pretty much my question.

and if its the pump that means the tranny is done for, right?

My 3 week old sleeps so peacefully during the day time. however, at night she is awake every hour or awake for several hours at a time...Usually accompanied by grunts and other harmless noises. She seems to sleep better when it is light and noisy. Could the dark be the problem or the lack of noises at night? Would really like to get her into a more "normal" routine. How do we go about this?
