I asked this a little while ago
But ive been told ive been far to vague

OK.
Well i just have that instinct that my pc isnt running at full potential, thats all... and its ocassionally being slow.. sometimes im named lagger in multiplayer games that arent the most graphics powering.

This is my spec:
AMD athlon 62 x2 4400+ (2.3ghz) AM2
2gb ram - twinx (dual channel) 800mhz corsair
500w coolermaster psu
160gb hard drive etc...
7800gt XFX graphics

My hard drive is a standart sata 7200rpm. Its not full, ive only just reinstalled my OS (win xp pro) because of slowness to my system. So its very free of space.

It should have adequate cooling. 1 120mm fan at the front, 2 80mm fans at the rear and an 80mm fan at the side, also a big fan on my psu and a new arctic cooling cpu cooler.

I havent overclocked at all.
All my components are getting seen by programs such as cpu-z, everest etc.. so my 2gb ram, graphics etc are all getting seen.

I fink its a BIOS/drivers problem

I do aggree it could be a internet connection problem.

I have 2mb broadband. I have a pci wireless card getting a strong 54mbps most the time.
So it should really be too slow.. and others are using the internet at the same time, but not on games.. just usual websites.

UPDATE (old message below this): OK, after reading your updates about your internet connection, I'm fairly certain I know your problem. You said some others are using your broadband WIRELESS connection while you are playing these multiplayer games. I play multiplayer games as well, with a shares NON-wireless (which IS better for multiplayer, and networks), and I get massive lag/loss when playing when others are just "browsing the net and such". Word to the wise, "PLay multiplayer online games when others are "sharing" your connection." Also, I know many people who use wireless networks, and at least 50% of them have tons of loss/lag and blame it on their wireless connect. So, to eradicate your problem, I'd suggest going WIRED connectivity (if possible for you). It will help dramatically. Plus, I reiterate my point of not playing multi when others are also using your connection to do whatever it is they're doing.

Good luck...

You were asked in the past to be more specific or forthcoming with computer stats, except you still failed to give the most important stats I feel are relevent to figuring out why you are having problems "lagging" in ONLINE multiplayer games... the problem doesn't sound like it lies within your computer, or rather, it lies in something you didn't give information about. Your internet connection/speed. The problem could be that you are still running 56K modem, or 28.8... who knows? Without you telling us (the answerers) we have no idea if this may well be your problem. Most likely you are on some sort of broadband connection, like cable or dsl. That's probably wher eyour problem lies, or perhaps in your router or modem. They could be 'malfunctioning' or just on their way 'out'. Then again, your NIC inside the computer could be on it's way out. You may want to update/add more information to your original question stating your internet connectivity specs... this will help us, and YOU to get a good answer for you. Still, sounds like an internet issue to me... could even be your ISP?

Good luck.

Actually, there are many things in Windows that are actually wasting your system resources.

Right click my computer, go to properties. Click advanced tab, then click settings under performance. The only ones I have checked are show window contents while dragging, use common tasks in folders, and use drop shadows for icon labels on desktop, but thats only because those are my preferences... if you want better performance, then have it set to adjust for best performance.

Also, you may want to go Start>Run, type msconfig, and turn off some unnecessary services.

Just a few tweaks :)

If you are a lagger in a game it sounds like you have a network latency issue. You might want to take a look at your network path using something like ping plotter you can get it at http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_2.exe. You put in the server you are going to and it will graphically show you your path and where the lags are. I had a simular problem and I end up finding out that my DSL comapny had bad network equipment a long ways away.

Have you run a simple Disk cleanup to see how Many files are not needed that could be cleaned up safely?Accessories>system tools > disk cleanup, same way with defrag
you find out if they can after you run the cleanup tool
highlight each found(clicking on it/them it usually tells you if you can or not.
if something says you can't simply uncheck that box.
when was the last time the system was defragged?
Do not fool with Bios unless you are qualified or next stop will be a Tech.your specs look good

It really is a matter of what you mean by "Slow"
Is your computer slow to boot up? Is it slow to start a program? Is it slow on the internet? Is it slow in games?

Its sounds like games. what type of games? Are we talking 2 year old games, or last week type of games?
It could be your graphic card. It actually could be your motherboard, but there anything you can do there.

If people are calling you a lagger, that is probably due to your Internet connection. Do you have broadband? Try this speed test to test your Internet connection speed:
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

If it is lower than what it should be, contact your ISP and ask them to troubleshoot.

Your computer's specs are very good and should run games without any problems.

You are having a very good computer indeed!!But as you told its just a Driver problem!!Try Updating new driver or try installing different releases of your drivers it might work and check your game performance and In addition to this you may need to update your motherboard Chipset drivers from the manufacturers website like !!! It might work this timee!!

Your latest Geforce driver can be found here...

ok I believe you have a pc that's very simillar to mine.. the problem is not in BIOS althought I thing you should check iff your cpu speed is set to optimal performance..
you can chek this in your task manager..
also chek in the BIOS iff your tempratur settings are set to the right setting ..keep in mind that your grapphics card heets up the motherboard faster than normal.
defragmant your hardive and also chek the security software you are using ..these are also known to slow down a pc

i would agree with the bios/drivers problem, i have almost identical specs, but different motherboard i would run a memory check, check your jumpers, and nothing works try swapping parts with other ones to see if their is a bad part in the bunch, or replace motherboard.

It is most likely your Internet connection speed. If you are using dial up try DSL/Broad Band. Also check the speed of your connection.
