I have a Yamaha Stereo System comprising 135W RMS Amp + Control Amp + Digital Sound Field Processor DSP100 and 35W RMS for the DSP. I have one pair of JBL 100 T3 main speaker. Please advise right type of additional speakers to turn my system into 5.1 Home Theater system. Thanks.

While you can do this, I dont think you want to do this.

Here is why:

- The DSP100 only does pro-logic from 1987, not DD 5.1 from 1995.

- The Amp is stereo - you need 3 more channels of amplification. While you might use that 35 watts of Mono power for the rears, how can you power a center speaker?

- A very important part of 5.1 is to have 5 identical, tone-matched speakers, especially for the front. I cannot find anything that might match those T3's for a center.

While that is well-respected gear for 2-channel music, you dont need that caliber of equipment for HT.

You need a less-powerful 5-channel amp, built-in DD decoding, less accurate, but tone-matched speakers and a external sub.

While it looks like similar equipment - it's better to think of a HT system as a totally different thing. You use it differently, you play things differently, you place things differently and your primary sense/interaction with HT is different than music.

Move this equipment into another room for a music system and buy a nice HTIB for about $700. It will be cheaper, and more satisfying.
