I would say that the ones that fear death believe in God! for this explanation is better than the truth. They want to think they can see their loved ones, follow their kids lives from above, keep an eye on the lives you left behind, that the conscience (soul) lives for eternity) I think this would be the better question, for re-incarnation is just the next step in that philosophy. I would like to believe that I could see my wife after I die, but the logical mind knows that death is just sleep you never wake up from, it is a cold thought, but it is the truth.

Well wouldn't a belief in reincarnation mean that it would be illogical to fear death? And can the same be said for the idea of an afterlife. I am always puzzled why Christians cry at funerals - surely they should rejoice as theoretically the person is on their way home.

False. There is actually more to fear if you believe in reincarnation. It means you have to come back!

when you generalize like that, you make a major mistake in thinking all people who believe ____ are ____...

there are many ways that people can believe and feel...you could just as easily say if you believe in the rapture, you must fear death...or fear truly living

having said that, my personal perspective is this-

reincarnation means death of the ego...the part of you that goes on living is not your personlaity, not your ego..

and that is what people who believe in one shot at heaven or punishment in hell, really fear...the death of the ego based self...fear that you could "burn in hell" never ending torture...

or fear that 'you', your personality- exactly who you are not, will not go on living...since you can't let go of this false you, a place is invented where you think it can go on living

reincarnation is true for me, and i don't fear death...

for me it's not death- it's everlasting life...everlasting love...for the real 'us' which is the Soul

if you do not recognize the difference between the ego and the soul, this will not make sense to you

if you think about it reincarnation is many deaths, so a fear of death would not be subsided with reincarnation for long atleast.
their are three theorys and they are
1 one life or their is nothing after death, extinction.
2 two lifes heaven or hell after death.
3 three lives a bit misleading but the belief in reincarnation.
out of these three i would say the two life theory is the one to go with for fear of death.

Reincarnation is not fear as you have already know what will be. The fear is unknown, right?

0bviously false. If you really believed in reincarnation you would welcome death.
I do not believe in reicarnation, but certainly do NOT fear death.
