I know the Catholics hold the assumption of to be dogma. That is must be accepted. My question is this. Why is the assumption of Mary considered to be true when two early popes condemned it as heresy? Also if this happened why is it not recorded in the book of John? It is estimated this gospel was written in 90 AD. Surely Mary was dead by this point. Wouldn't it have been mentioned? Every other assumption in the Bible is clearly mentioned

About the assumption: In 495 A.D., Pope Gelasius issued a decree which rejected this teaching as heresy and its proponents as heretics. In the sixth century, Pope Hormisdas also condemned as heretics those authors who taught the doctrine of the Assumption of Mary. The early Church clearly considered the doctrine of the Assumption of Mary to be a heresy worthy of condemnation. Here we have "infallible" popes declaring something to be a heresy. Then in 1950, Pope Pius XII, another "infallible" pope, declared it to be official Roman Catholic doctrine

Is celebrating halloween by trick-or-treating bad? My friende is really religious and she's been riding me about not going and that I should join her church, not celebrate halloween, stop cussing, don't steal anything. This is a residential area and there are woods behind my house. They are supposed to have a public hearing on this. I do not want the church to to built just behind my house because of the noise and the trees will be gone. Please let me know if there are any valid points I can bring up which can make them reconsider their decision.

My boyfriend and i have been talking about me going on birth control. Well i made an appnt for today and went to my appnt and everything. Well i was really nervous about the appnt and i've been talking to my boyfriend about it alot and he knows how nervous i've been. So i got back from my appnt, he knew it was today. DOESNT EVEN ASK ME HOW IT WENT. He forgot. After he knew how nervous i was for it, we even discussed it yesterday. I'm just a little aggravated / hurt that he didnt even remember. Am i wrong?

Ok so here is the story..I have been best friends with this guy for probably about 3-4 years now. A few weeks ago, he asked me out. I, too, really liked him and was glad he finally made a move. So last night at the football game, ppl were kinda pushin him to hug me or do somethin so he put his arm around me, and I really wanted it but I was nervous about the crowd, so I pushed his hand off. I felt really bad, especially when he walked away and didn't seem to talk to me much the rest of the night. I feel really bad, and I really liked the image of his arm around me and how it felt, but I guess I am just nervous about the crowd and what people will think about me. Also, my friend had just gone out w/ this guy last night and they were already hugging and everythin, and I was going out with this guy for weeks and we didnt really make any moves. Should I just let him make the moves and enjoy it, or should I be a little bit nervous about the crowd? Help?

there are quite abit of people that spell it that way i know the original spelling is Alexander but i have always liked it spelled Aleczander you guys would not agree on it for his 1st name so i moved it to his middle and you still dont like it!!the reason his name is Nolan aleCZander is because Aleczander was my hubby's best friend's name that died...i was just wondering why people make such a big deal about alexander being spelled aleczander..
