I do not live in the US anymore and someone is using my personal information get credit. How can I stop this? When I place a fraud alert, can I provide an international phone number as my contact number?

They don't specify you can't enter in an international number. But, their forms also don't seem to allow you to do that.

The best thing to do would be to call one of the 3 Credit Reporting Agencies.
Experian: 1 888 397 3742
Equifax: 1 800 525 6285
TransUnion: 1 800 680 7289

When you call then they can tell you how to do it. The good thing is that when you file a Fraud Alert with 1 CRA they are required to notify the other 2 automatically.

I don't see why not. I wouldn't wait to put the fraud alert in place.

See the government website for additional steps to take: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/consumers/defend.html

call Equifax and make the fraud known to them before it totally wrecks your credit

Try to put a freeze on your credit. That way no one can access it without your special code.
