Halloween started out to scare away evil spirits and keep them from inhabiting live bodies. The Bible also says he who is perfect can cast the first stone, which means it's not your friend's place to judge you, only God can and what she should be doing is leading by example. Are you sacrificing animals or defacing property on halloween, then don't. But if you're in doubt, talk to someone involved in a church in your area, other than her church and see how many different answers you get.

I'm not religious but I have a very close personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I am a Christian. Halloween used to be my favorite holiday, but in time, I did a lot of research and study on the occult, and this holiday came up a lot (part of what turned me into a Christian, actually).
I wrote a BLOG about it, which can give you a lot of info on the history and why it is an event no one should partake in. Even if one isnt a Christian, one can see why this isn't something to celebrate.
Let me know what you think.

Halloween is a modernized Sanhain festival, that the Celtic Druids and people honored (near Ireland). The Druids were/are polytheistic and animistic, believing in the spirit world.
The modern festival of Halloween is a fairly accurate representation of Sanhain, and what it was about---considering many customs have changed a bit over the years. It essentially is a time in which the dead and spirits can come back and walk around this planet and cause terror, the veil between the two worlds being very thin.
The "Halloween" solution to dealing with evil spirits - pretend you are evil as well so they leave you alone. All this does is glorfy evil more.
The Jack O'Lantern is a faust-like legend in which Jack, a damned soul, makes a pact with the devil to stay out of hell and wander the earth (since he is kicked out of heaven). In order to get back to earth, a hot coal from hell is put in the lantern so he can find his way. Druids heard this story and thought evil spirits would know it and stay away if they used turnips (now pumpkins).
When I was a kid I had a lot of fun carving the pumpkin. No one told me it represents a damned soul worthy of hell, though the scary pumpkin faces do tend to raise questions...
One Pope many years ago, moved 'All Saints Day' from May to October 31st becasue of this evil celebration. This is similiar to what many Christians do today when they have "Hallelujah Parties" because they are horrified of the evil of it.
Do you think people glorify evil in modern Halloween?
I bet you'll find it's not that much different than Sanhain of old in many ways...

some more religious people believe that doing anything for Halloween is giving power to the devil. most of the practices of Halloween were thought up long after the Bible was written, but some interpret verses to mean God's against it. your friend can believe whatever she wants, but you also have the freedom to believe whatever you want.

Its not polite to cuz and wrong no matter what you believe to steal. But celebrating halloween is fine. Its not like you are worshipping satan.
All you are going to do is dress up, have fun with friends and collect some candy. I think God would approve unless you are pulling pranks or smashing pumpkins. But obviously, i cannot speak for God, i just beleive he would approve.

Ask her why her church performs wedding ceremonies for people who have been divorced when the Bible definitely says that divorce is allowable only when the partner commits adultery - and even then neither person can remarry. Or ask her why her church has not denounced the Catholic church for continuing to make excuses for and hiding their priests who have sex with altar boys or girls. Then...you can laugh at her when she tells you that an innocent night of kids dressing up in costumes going out for candy is evil.

No I don't think its bad! When I think of Halloween I think Candy, Fun, and Dressing up! I don't think that I'm worshiping the devil or anything because I'm not.
