Who thought up that old saying and is it true? Losing a love is mighty painful and sometimes traumatizes a person for a long, long time. Often, it makes people afraid to dive into other relationships. It makes them marriage-shy, afraid of commitment.

So, is it better to love someone and go through the agony of loss than it is to be alone, without any close ties? And do lost loves ever fade from the mind, leaving a person free to find someone else?

atheists, how do you know god doesnt exist?

just cause there is no proof that doesnt mean its false. if you steal something from a store, and there arent any cameras around, there is no proof that you stole it, however that doesnt mean you didnt

and for you christians, how exactly do you know god does exist?

you could believe that the moon is made of cheese, and if you go there, bring back a piece and try to eat it, youll realize that it isnt so believing hard enough doesnt mean that you know

and if faith doesnt mean believing without proof then what does it mean?

Yes I am trying to kill two birds with one stone and you need to stop saying that you "know" god exists or not but rather that you "believe".

I know that I'll get 1 of 2 types of answers from Christians:
1) "Dingle Berry 6:66 clearly states that Christians are obligated to spell at least 3 words wrong in their paragraphs."
2) "We don't follow the Old Testament's morals (even-though it's in every bible). We only choose to follow the New Testament."

As an Atheist, I've never sat at home and thought, "Wow, since there is no God, I should go club some baby seals".
Just like Religion, morality is a learned behavior. People are capable of teaching dogs a limited form of morality.

Theists, are you telling me that with-out a belief in God you would become a pedophile, a murderer, or a prostitute because you couldn't self-govern your impulses?

How does the bible teach morality? Is it through…
1) Moses? No. He gave orders to kill male prisoners and older females; virgins were fair game.
2) Book of Judges? No! When a mob was about to rape a priest, the priest chose to let them use his daughter.

Very moral!

How do you feel now that you know?

"Any Muslim who believes in God with a sincere heart, who scrupulously abides by His verses and fears suffering in the Hereafter, will avoid harming even one other person. He knows that the Lord of Infinite Justice will suitably reward him for all his deeds. In one of the hadiths, our Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) listed the kinds of people who are not pleasing to God:

"Those who act cruelly and unjustly in the sacred lands, those who yearn for the ways of the ignorant, and those who wrongly shed human blood." (Sahih Bukhari Hadith)

Terrorists, on the other hand, listen to their earthly desire for violence instead of their consciences, and can easily turn to all forms of wickedness. They become loveless, aggressive people who easily hurt others without the slightest pang of conscience. Having no fear of God, they do not know the morality of religion, nor do they practice it. Nothing can stop them from committing crimes.

I frequently hear Christians tell me that I made a choice to be an atheist, and a bad choice according to them. But now that I think about it, nobody really chooses to be an atheist (unless they were brought up by atheist parents, but that's different).

Consider this: most atheists disbelieve in god because of an overwhelming lack of evidence, and because of education and understanding our world and universe. In other words, it is the inevitable conclusion from available information, and no matter how much we want to believe in god, we cannot.

Sure, we can call ourselves Christians and pretend, but deep down, we can never really believe. It's as hard for me to believe in God as it is for you to believe in unicorns, or to disbelieve that 2 + 2 = 4. We simply cannot believe in God because our own common sense and rationality will not let us, no matter how much we would like to. So trying to convert us is futile and pointless.

The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard all have co-ed basic/boot camp. (Although only 2 Army basic training sites are co-ed) Do you feel that the military would benefit from single sex basic/boot camp training like the Marines have? Which kind of training did you have? What do you think the pros and cons are?

I had co-ed training in the Army at Ft. Jackson. I’m torn on this issue. On one hand, men and women work together in the military so it makes sense to train together. However, when we worked in teams or groups, men would always have the burden of the most physically demanding tasks. Usually females didn't step up to plate at that point. If basic was single sex they would be forced to. Of course this is just based on my 9 week cycle. I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks.

There are 12-20 million undocumented living in this country. Something needs to be done to assure that we know who is here and what they are doing. Both sides have valid points, but, for seemingly different reasons.

I understand the impact of having this many people here with a completely foreign culture & customs can have on our society socially, and, the economic impact that we are being faced with- especially if the rate of growth increases with the undocumented. These are all concerns.

However, when I read the posts by "pros" they are typically more related to emotion- the plight of the immigrants, their intentions, their work habits, the condition of their old country, etc. These are all, obviously, emotions.

Is this an issue where your position is simply decided by which rules- your head or your heart?

After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a 'gripe sheet,' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor.

Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers. (By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident. ))

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit
S: Something tightened in cockpit

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Auto pilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.

P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny. (I love this one!)
S: Aircraft warned to: straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

And the best one for last.............

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding
on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

Relationships are built upon honesty and trust, but sometimes telling a current love about your past loves can end in bitter recriminations and arguments. Sometimes, the thought of other lovers lingers in the mind and spoils any current relationship. Is it better to keep quiet and leave your past a secret that only you know about? Or is it better to level with your partner and tell all?
