I'm a little nervous about starting on it, is there anything besides the obvious that i should expect? I am taking Marvelon 28. I talk to my doctor about it but I'm just looking for things that he wouldn't mention. PS -I'm 18
Thanks a lot!

A few things:

1. If you are irregular off the pill, it will take a few pill packs to get your period regulated.

2. If you miss a pill or more, read your pamphlet that came with the pills, talk to the pharmacist, or call your doctor.

3. When you finally do regulate, do not worry if you do not start your period on the very first pill in your fourth week pills. It might not start until mid week.

4. Realize that no contraceptive is 100% effective, and pills are 0% effective against HIV and STDs.

5. Please don't try to skip the placebo pills to miss a period unless your DOCTOR says it is ok to do. Even then, you may get your period at the time you want to miss it, and it will take a while for your system to regulate again.

there shouldnt be anything weird unless your body doesnt accept your birth control. my bf and both his siblings were born while using birth control and a condom. so its possible. but unlikely. always take it within an hour of the time you took it before to ensure it works at full percentage. it really helps if you have bad periods too.

your period might be too long or too short..when i first started my period lasted 3 weeks and then it became regular...you also might get heat flashes at night..also after a couple month you might start to gain a little weight...goodluck
