This isn't like asking an auto insurer to take on, or not charge more for, people who have been in accidents in the past.

This is more like getting into a car accident and then applying for car insurance and asking the insurance company to pay for the accident that already happened.

It's not a risk of loss, it's a loss.

That's not what insurance is.

Insurance is the pooling of risk. The actuarial tables say that out of 100,000 people, X% will get cancer, Y% will develop some other malady, etc...., and the premium rates are designed to ensure a modest operating profit if something slightly over the actuarial risks occur.

A pre-existing condition means that person is 100% likely to have the problem thus incur the costs. A few of those really throws off the model - 28 out of 1,000 is very different from 30 out of 1,002, when you consider that the premiums paid by everyone are supposed to offset the high costs incurred for the handful that do become ill.

It's so bad, I even get turned around in shopping malls. I can never find my car in parking lots, and driving out of town, is out of the question. It kept me from going to college. I'm 50 years old and sick of it. I've always had inner ear problems since birth. Someone told me that it could be related. Any truth? I know that it effects more women than men. I saw that on T.V. Help and thanks in advance for caring enough to answer. Val

A few years ago, a small common lizard got stuck between the screen and glass of a window in my house and died. He's been sitting there all that time and we call him the nameless lizard that haunts the window. Recently I'd decided to honor his memory with some kind of artsy project involving the preservation of his skeleton, but I have no idea how to go about doing this!
Could someone help me?
Thanks so much!

Hiya. I'm thinking about taking my boyfriend to France for the day (and night, possibly), by ferry. It would only be a short trip.

Would it be best to get a train (from Nottingham) to Dover but then we'd have to get our own transport to Paris, OR go on a coach trip? I'm trying to save up but I'd like to know the cheapest and easiest option!

Does anyone know roughly how long it would take on a coach trip to get to Paris itself?

And lastly, do you need a passport to get there by ferry? I have one, but my boyfriend doesn't.

Sorry for all the questions! Lol. Hope you can help! Thanks in advance xxx

:o)

I am planning to get a baby quaker parrot. I need to know if males and females both make good pets. Is it important to have the bird DNA sexed? I have heard about potential problems with egg-binding. Other than that, I don't have negative information on females. I just want a very interactive, fun and loving bird.

When he said "This country needs an energy policy that encourages consumption!" did he mean just that? It would help his energy partners and campaign contributers out. Could he also have meant what he said about bringing on more insurgent attacks? It would boost his stock value in Carlyle and give him a reason to remain in Iraq longer.

I am flying to Norway Friday 9/28 and have 15 nights holiday before I fly back to the US on Sunday 10/14. Since I have sort of planned this trip spur of the moment, I did not consider that Norway is so unbelievably expensive. I travel on a tight budget, usually staying in cheap hostels and these are not so cheap in Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger where I will be visiting. Food is also expensive. So I am thinking of cutting the trip short in Norway and make my way to Germany- will my dollar go further there?
