I just had to swap 2 50p's with a lovely lady who finds it just as annoying as me!

Well the town I live in has the most abandoned trolleys in the whole of the UK. Yep they actually researched this. I think this is why they introduced this system lol

I always keep a pound coin in the car now ,it's frustrating I know but it's better than seeing them littered all over the place.
I once took the dogs for a run on the fields and passed a few back gardens, one woman was actually taking her washing off the line and was using a trolley to put it in!
Very inventive!

Well to be honest lots of people steal trolleys to ride around in because I find them everywhere but yes it is very annoying and I know what you mean about not having £1 lol.

Kelly, Have you ever been to Aldi? They charge a quarter for the use of the cart, this saves them money on hiring people to round up the carts. This also keeps them on the premises, and not stolen.

I was pi$$ed off when I went there at first, but the approach makes a lot of sense. Their food prices are very cheap, policies like this help hold down costs. They also do not use bags, you can use the boxes that the food comes shipped in, or purchase a bag for 50 cents, it is made of heavy enough plastic to re-use many times.

It's very annoying when that happens.

When I was a student there were a whole load of those type of trolleys left outside of the accommodation, which was only a 5/10 minute walk away!!

I use a pound shaped token.
The only trolley thief I can think of is Bubbles from The Trailer Park Boys!

sainsburys sold a disc on a keyring a while back
for£1,because of exactly what you are saying
it was to replace using a pound coin
and yes it is very annoying and some supermarkets
only have trolleys, what happens if you only have a credit card and no change or money at all it needs a rethink

No one wants to steal a trolley. People are too lazy to take them back and without the £1 incentive, they would simply leave them where they parked the car.

Ask the supermarket cashier for a change.

People don't steal trolleys. They take them back home and forgot to return them
