I've always been one of the "smart" people in school. I did have friends, but only a couple. In high school I began to "blossom" out and had more friends. My high school social life was pretty good.

However at my university I have no real close friends despite having had 3 roommates in the past. (I chose to live alone this year.) I got along very well with one of my roommates, but we lost contact after I moved out to my own apartment.

The only person I am close to now is my boyfriend, who lives in ANOTHER state. I miss him a lot.

I do feel lonely, but I also dislike spending time with most people here. Is this weird? Basically people invite me to parties sometimes, and I decline, coming up with a lame excuse, like "oh I 'm tired" or "i have to be somewhere."

What is wrong with me? I think I've become MORE isolated at university.

I find it amusing when they post on here and go on and on about how they had no "advantages" and how they all "worked hard for what they earned in their life"...

I've known a few of the "type" in real life...

inherited your wealth... went to the best schools... had every advantage possible... lived in secure, nurturing homes...

but they've always "done everything themselves"...

and everyone who's poor just "isn't trying"...

I just find it funny...

I have a male betta. He recently underwent a bit of stress, moving from a 10 gallon tank to a bowl to a 5 gallon tank. (The bowl was while he was in transition). He is very active in his new tank but seems to be fanning his gills a lot. Also, there are a lot of bubbles gathered on top of the water. I've read that betta sometimes make bubblenests but I thought it was only when they are breeding. So is it a bubblenest or do bettas just always leave air bubbles? And is he just fanning because of the stress of moving of could something be wrong?

I've seen psychologists. They support divorce, tear families apart, encourage emotion over reason, tell people to do what they feel instead of what is right, encourage people to use drugs to suppress natural feelings, defend criminals and justify evil acts, and are leading to the decline in values and academic performance of our children.

I don't mind the studying of human behavior and the mind, but what they do goes far beyond that, they are molding our society to one that Huxley predicted.

For example...the most common thing-depression. You don't need drugs for that. You need help, support, and love. But psychology says you NEED medicine. Tell me all you psychologists, how did humanity survive 3000yrs without medicine? Psychologists invent diseases to diagnose people with to get more money when they buy services and drugs.

This is a deceitful industry that is a blight upon our society in my opinion. Yourthoughts?

Bad puns probably shouldn't be translated to canvas even if you coined them yourself. So, cartoonish social comentary aside, this thing has me baffled. Is it as bad as I think it is and should it meet a justified demise?

Seriously, guys, do you go through this when you attempt a new style? A different direction? Do you ever go through a period where you don't know what you think of what you're doing? Where you don't know if what you're doing works or fails, has merit or is crap?

The US supports many corrupt dictatorships around the world. That's a fact. Democracy doesn't matter to the US government as you can see that the US has a comfortable relationship with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. So dictatorships are fine with the US. It does not mean that all American citizens accept this. There's a good chance that in Iraq whether the US stays or not will become a dictatorship. That dictatorship may a lot more repressive than Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. After all the American deaths in Iraq (more Americans have died there than died during 911), can you accept the end result of a corrupt dictatorship in power? If you can, was democracy ever a goal of the invasion? What is America saying by accepting dictatorship? My last question is could some form of dictatorship by the govt be acceptable by those in government in America itself?

I have lived in Denver now for just one year (moved from LA) man what a place I can't say enough good things about it. People often ask me how I like it there and I seem to probably freak them out with an endless amount of explanation. I just want some other opinions?

ive suffered tremendously since 15, ive been through alot of trauma, i have bpd, ptsd and very bad depressions everyday.
im 29 now. ive never had a girlfriend or made any friends in life.
i had dreams, desires and ambitions i wanted to achieve to.
im ageing physically now, im full of rage and anger, im lonely alone and bitter,
and it strikes me as a major injustice,& is very unfair to me to see, people enjoying themselves and their lives. whether it be when i turn on the tv, every channel is filled with people having fun and getting their needs met.
when i look on the internet,at myspace, other sites, its people living their lives to the full.
i feel very angry, bitter and unremorsefull when i see this, because ive been through hell, ive never had my needs met,
and now i have to somehow repair the damage that has been done to me in my life..
im on a waiting list for therapy, but i seriously wonder how it can help when i feel this bad all the time & this angry towards people..

my parents agreed to get me a horse for graduation. i have expierience with horses and know how to care for them. i have a good job so i have money to pay for everything and we have sufficient lodgeings for a horse or two so don't worry, any horse i would get would be well taken care of. my problem is that i feel i won't have enough time for a younger more energetic horse that has to be thourouly exersized everday and ridden all the time so i think i would be better off with an older horse that wouldn't mind hanging out in a nice meadow during the week and only having heavier riding and such on the weekends. would this be fair to an older horse? or should i just stick with riding my grandma's horses on weekends?
