Keep up your personal hygeine, remember they wore sandals or walked barefooted back in those days, that's why it was such a custom to cleanse ansd annoit their feet!

Although that proverb is not in the Bible, many Christians adhere to it. I don't know where it originated.
But its meaning seems to be that a godly person will naturally maintain order and cleanliness in the home and of his/her body, clothes, etc.
That being said, just because a person is neat and clean, that doesn't make the person godly.
