I was promoted about 6 months ago and got a raise to my hourly wage. If I step down from this position, can/will my employer decrease my pay to what it used to be? BTW I live in California

In the news today, a teen girl won $25,000 for having the most text delivered to friends in a short time. Don't you find this ridiculous? Couldn't they invested this large amount of money to a environmental program, or something that will benefit our issue on global warming? Or build houses, fix streets, donate to the less fortunate, donate to a hospital, etc.? Something productive?

Couldn't they at least made the competition about something else other than a text messaging competition?

Sorry you guys, but that was just a lame competition. Peace!

I was diagnosed with depression 6 years ago, and have been on medication for it off and on since then. I'm looking into joining the military and according to most sources, there isn't any way to get around this diagnosis unless I've been off the meds for at least 1 year. I'm pretty sure I need the meds; I feel a whole lot better and function better when on them. So far I've only looked into the Army, any one know if it's any different with other branches? Thanks!

Ask a Christian is he is a Saint, and you will get an emphatic "Oh no, Saints are special."

Really? All the letters Paul wrote to the followers of Christ were directed to the Saints. I guess that means they aren't for you then. The fact is, if the Christians were the true followers of Jesus, they would know better than to call themselves "The Christians." Because they would insist on calling themselves the Saints.

But please! Go ahead and tell me why you call youselves the Christians instead of the Saints...

Okay..from june 06 to dec. 06 I went to Valdosta state as a freshman. My grades were fine but I absolutely HATED the town, school, and everything about Valdosta , so I came back to Atlanta and went to Ga Perimeter College for spring 07 with hopes of tranferring in to Ga state the next year...well I also started working when i came back to atl..and w/ working 30 hours a week I couldnt really find the time to focus on my classes so my grades now are HORRIBLE. I was wondering..If i went to another community college to get my grades up and transferred to ga state only using the grades from Valdosta and the 2nd community college w/out even mentioning Ga Perimeter..would i be caught?? or would it be easy to do?

I saw a show on TV that was discussing why all models, even models for fat girl clothes in advertisement, are skinny. Apparently people, even chunky, don't want to see fat people modeling clothes, and I wonder why that is? I would rather see a chubby pretty girl then those crazy looking people on the excedrin commercials. WHy are people so opposed to chubby people?

Hello - I recently got married (mid '05), but didn't change my withholding until last year. We were originally worried that we'd get nailed with a hefty tax bill last year, as we were both withholding 2, single. Turns out we only owed $500 federal, and a small amount for state. So early in 2006, we both updated our W-4's to married jointly. My wife was between jobs, and was making a career move - we saw that our total income was going to drop, and thought withholding 1 for both of us would be fine. Our 2006 total income (before adjustments) was about $15K less than 2005 - so I thought we might even get a refund.
We were right, for our state taxes at least - refund of +$400.
For federal, however, we owe $3100.
My mind boggles at the insanity of this. Is this the dreaded "marriage tax" in effect? How in the hell could this happen? I filed through H&R Block's website - and I checked and rechecked my return before submitting - and so now I might even owe a penalty? What gives?!?

My large puppy eats eukanuba puppy food for large breeds, and my yorkie eats eukanuba for small breeds. For some reason my yorkie eats the large breed food. She will no longer eat her own food. Will this have any effect on her growth or her health?
