Ask a Christian is he is a Saint, and you will get an emphatic "Oh no, Saints are special."

Really? All the letters Paul wrote to the followers of Christ were directed to the Saints. I guess that means they aren't for you then. The fact is, if the Christians were the true followers of Jesus, they would know better than to call themselves "The Christians." Because they would insist on calling themselves the Saints.

But please! Go ahead and tell me why you call youselves the Christians instead of the Saints...

very true we are saints, if you look in a concordance and read all the scriptures with the word saint it shows all God's children are saints. in one of my bibles the word saint appears 43 times. we are called Christians because it glorifies our Lord and signifies ownership, He bought us for a price...His life

A saint is a person who lives a life of exceptional holiness. ANY person can be a saint (Yes, including some Muslims, Jews, atheists, even, etc.) It's just that one should be exceptionally holy in his/ her life. Having said that, not many people would lead that kind of life.

Now, there are perhaps millions of saints in Heaven. But only a few thousand are recognised. The Church does not "make " people saints. It recognises them as saints based on info about the lives of these people. But just because a person has not yet been recognised as a saint does not necessarily mean he/she is not a saint.

God Bless,

Paul never called himself a saint. It takes a great amount of humility to be a saint. So, if anyone claims themself to be a saint while in this world, then they aren't one.

Someone is only declared a saint by the Church after they have died.

When the Catholic Church canonizes a saint, the Church is making an infallible declaration that that person is in Heaven.

The Church can do this because of the keys that Jesus gave to the Church and, in particular, the keys given to Peter which were passed down to his successor, the Pope in Rome.

If Paul the apostle wants to call them saints, I'm not going to argue with him.

But the followers of Christ call ourselves Christians because of historical precedent. "The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch" (Acts 11:25, NIV). This was when Paul and Barnabas traveled to Antioch during the reign of Claudius.

My pastor calls the people of his church Saints so since he is an awesome man of God, I will take his word as fact (the person who is hardest on me would say "you are not a "saint" would be me only because I am the hardest on myself about doing things right). My pastor reminds us of how the Lord feels about us and there for we are "SAINTS"...
and we are not talking like "Saint Christopher"...according to catholics to be granted sainthood your body when you die doesn't decay...didn't happen to Pope John Paul but he was a good christian...right?

The Greek word used for Saints meant "set apart" and since Christians are supposed to be set apart from the world, then I would definitely strive to be a Saint.

I call myself both, but in public I don't call myself a Saint because people have higher standards for Sainthood. This is from false doctrines and is not worth arguing about. The important thing is, is to get them to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I can't do this, if they think that I am a liar.

Personally, nobody is a saint. And Christians are Christians because they follow Jesus Christ, They know He died on the cross for our sins and resurrected 3 days later.
