I'm not sure who those crazy looking people on excedrin commercials are-lol...but? I know what you're talking about regarding modeling clothes, I get catalogs from plus size catalogs, and the models are all skinny, it never made sense to me, and doesn't give people an accurate idea of how the clothes would look like on them. In general, most people seem to find thinner people more attractive, at least in the United States, I won't speak for every country. It's a case of majority rules, and therefore makes the rules that apply to modeling clothes.

People watch tv to see the skinny pretty people. And it just doesn't work if people selling clothes sell them fitting badly on people who don;t have nice bodies. There's nothing wrong with fat people, they're just not cut out for modeling.

Society for centries think skinny is all that. But if you look back to the very early years in the bible they where chubby. Healthy. Today's women are very unhealthy if they are very thin. And self absorbed. If one is eatting healthy and excersising one should be normal no bones showing. If you like a full figured women, girl its fine but you will be given a hard time by jerks. So what. Let them go as friends. If a girl is confident in who she is she will be fine

When we judge people for their appearance we are looking for the qualities of a potential mate and we want them to be healthy. Obesity does not equate with healthy, at the subconscious level.

According to research, fat people don't conform with our images of success or fertility.
Due to our social values, we associate fat people with being lazy, less intelligent, unhealthy, and unable to exercise self-control. Fat women don't have the curvaceous hourglass shape we are genetically programmed, and socially conditioned, to associated with female fertility.
---------------------
It's not a matter of being "shallow": just as the human mind identifies certain physical traits as being attractive, such as symmetry, we are genetically programmed to be attracted to certain body shapes. Social conditioning - that is, "society's" values of what successful or fertile people look like, does the rest.
"Shallowness" is not so much to do with how attractive we think people are, but how up our value scale attractiveness ranks for our conscious decision making. Everyone, including fat people, are able to identify an "attractive" person from an "unattractive" one. However, some people will use a person's attractiveness as a basis for decision making more than others, and it's this that can make some people seem "shallow".
A person who sees an attractive girl and uses that attractiveness as a basis for a major decision, over her other qualities such as her personality, is "shallow". A person who sees a beautiful girl but considers her other qualities more carefully, is less "shallow". However, both people will equally identify her as a physically attractive woman.
