I'm thinking of a short list of basic books which would give the reader a firm grasp of the essentials of Roman history. Something a motivated undergraduate could digest during a semester of dedicated study.

A friend on mine is getting married. She and her fiance are having a wedding shower. Men and women are attending, as well as both sides of the family. What is the difference between wedding shower and the actually wedding gift? Are they basically the same types of gifts (i.e., housewares, etc.)? I do not want to be inappropriate in my gift giving.

I recieved an invitation to an awards dinner for a community college EOP&S awards dinner. It is for low income and disadvantaged students. It is being held at the local Cal State and on the RSVP it says the attire is semi formal. What exactly does that mean. I usually wear Big Dog Tshirts and Jeans. Would a Button up shirt and jeans be okay or do I need to do more?

For some reason, probably because I was raised to be christian, I was always told that bars are awful places to meet your spouse.

I wasn't looking, but I did meet my partner a bar, but I tell my family and aquaintances that we met at church. I just can't be bothered to deal with the hopelessness of christianity. So, honestly did you meet your partner at a bar or club and what do you tell people?

please give examples that happened some time within, atleast, the last hundred years.

every time someone brings up radical islam's killing of anyone who does not agree with them and using the koran to justify their actions, someone always seems to bring up the inquisition or the crusades or some other action that happened hundreds, sometimes a thousand years ago? Those 'wars' were carried out by kings and emperors who controled an entire nation and made everyone do what they wanted them to. They were not carried out by groups of like-minded religous people who got together and decided to christianize the world through force, such as you see in islam.

They also like to bring up the idea that christian groups kill abortion doctors and other people who's beliefs dont agree with their own but they never seem to have examples or are able to show how the so-called christians justified their actions through the Bible.

please help me understand!

I'm 20 years old and would like to learn more about investing in stocks. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to get started? I know absolutely nothing about this, so please try to keep it as simple as you can. It might help me to know how you all got started in this game. What were your first moves? What do you consider to be essential information for a beginner? What were some of the mistakes you've made? How much money do I need to start out with?

I'm not really looking for book recommendations because I've already ordered some--just general adivce or guidance that you wish someone would have given you when you first started investing.

Thank you!

I recently found out that I love the taste of evaporated milk, so I have been drinking whole cans, and I know typically you are suppose to use evaporated milk in moderation just as a creamer. I know it is fattening, but besides that, is it really unhealthy, or is it actually good for you?
