Depends on how severe the pain is. If it's absolutely unbearable she should talk to her doctor. It could be a condition called endometriosis which is extremely unpleasant to say the very least. It's a treatable condition though in most cases.

A heating pad or hot water bottle are two other options for her to try, but she should definitely see her dr about this especially if the pain is so severe that it makes it hard for her to function.

Take 1 tab of evening primrose oil (EPO) daily, you can get it in any of the pharmacy. I hv this problem and it works for me.
