The truth is, there is nothing more you can do to be born again than you could do to be born the first time.
It is totally something that has to come from outside of yourself, because it is something only God can do.
But the good news is, that is exactly what He wants to do.
He proved this by sending His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to die on a cross for your sins so you could be saved.
He did not send His Son into the world to die on a cross to condemn the world, but to save it.
What you must do is come to God with whatever sincerity you can find in you and acknowledge that you are a sinner and don't have anything in you to commend yourself to God.
Now, having abandoned any hope of being saved on your own merits, ask Him to save you on the merits of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray, reach out in faith, and ask God to save you and change you within so you can live in harmony with Him. Confess your faith to Him that you believe Jesus died for you and rose again from the dead, and ask Him to forgive your sins and make you new within. Ask Him to do in you what is needed to make you a child of God, then thank Him for hearing your prayer, and let Him do the rest.
"But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

In the Bible there are a couple of things....when Jesus was talking to Nicodemus, He told him that he must be born again & the only way to the Father was through Him (Jesus). Further on in the Bible it states that "if we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that Jesus is Lord, then we will be saved." When I was born again, I repeated what is called a salvation prayer after a friend of mine. I know this sounds weird but when I repeated the prayer, I immediately felt different & knew that Jesus had come into my life. If you want to try this, repeat this prayer (but only if you are really serious about wanting to be born again...ok?)
Jesus, I believe in you. I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross and rose again on the third day and are now seated at the right hand of the Father. Thank you for dying to save me from my sin. I ask you to come into my life now. Make yourself real to me in a way I cannot mistake. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you pray that & know that Jesus has come into your life, post a comment on here. I'd really love to know God bless you as you seek Him

Say this prayer and mean what you are saying....." .Jesus, You loved me so much that You gave Your life for me. I believe You are God's son. I believe You lived a sinless life and that You died for my sins. I believe You rose from the dead so that I can live forever with You in Heaven. Jesus, please forgive me for all my sins. I invite You to be my Savior and Lord. Thank You for coming into my heart and making me a child of God." Satan will come after you, tell you it isn't real, try to lure you back into sin again etc.,but stay strong. Ask Jesus to help you resist the Devil and He will. Read your Bible every day. Don't start in Genesis, start with the book of Matthew and read a little every day .The New Testament is the easiest place to start. Talk to Jesus, tell Him whats happening in you life, problems, victories, He knows whats happening, but He is a great listener. A sounding board, just bounce things off on Him. Your making the biggest and best choice in your life God bless you in your new life.

Have yourself baptized if you have not been baptized as an adult. Find a church home, and make it stronger with your service. Study God's word. And pray. : )
Paul tells how to become a Christian and James goes into more detail about what is expected from us once we are Christians. : )

Admit that we are a sinner to God.
Believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
Confess that Jesus is Lord.
The Bible says in Acts 2:38 that if we repent and are baptized in the name of Jesus for the payment of our sin, then God will give you the gift of the Holy Ghost.
God removes our old sinfull spirit and replaces it with the Holy Spirit, in other words, with Himself. That is why we are called "Born Again." We are new creatures and we have different desires now because the Holy Spirit lives in us. Unfortunately, too many of us believe the lies of our enemy. He wants to destroy us and keep us from having a relationship with God as our Father, by getting us to return to those things that we were bound to.

Being "Born Again" refers to our emulating the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ by baptism. Biblical Baptism is by immersion in water. Immersion is a complete dunking, if you will.
In essence, once you agree to be baptized, you "die" to sin and you "die" to the world. Then, of course, the next step is to be "buried" under the water. But, like Christ, you are "resurrected", and as you come up out of the water, you are cleansed of your sin, and a "new creature" free from the sin of the world.
Yes, it is symbolic, but it is also an act of obedience. It may seem a flaky thing to do, but because it was ordered by God, then you just do it.
These are steps outlined in the Bible to being saved. I listed them with their normal scriptural references for you. You have to do all of them, in order, to be perfectly obedient. I don't know what happens, if anything, if you go out of order or skip a step. I, personally, did not want to find out, so I just obeyed.
Hear Romans 10:17
"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ."
Belive Hebrews 11:6
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
Repent Acts 17:30
"In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent."
Confess Romans 10:9-10
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Baptism Acts 2:38
"Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Then, remain faithful Revelation 2:10
"Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life."

The message the apostles first preached was to turn from sin and believe that Jesus died for you sins. This meant believing he is God and was God's answer to save men from their sins. There are a number of scriptures that make this clear. hosever shall call on the Lord shall be saved. Peter in one of his first sermons was asked what shall we do to be saved . He answered repent and bleive on the lord Jesus. Another verse says as many as recieved him to them he gave the power to become the sons of God. If you have any questions fell free to contact me.
