My father thinks that anyone who is below his standards for normal is 'retarded'. This has always bothered me because I don't have as high of expectations of others as he does. In the past 6 months I have found out the reason I'm so different is due to being AS. Now I don't know how to tell my father that I'm what he considers 'retarded'. We met when I was 17 and have only recently (10 years later) gotten to really know each other. I am confident about who I am yet, at the same time, don't want my father to reject me or be disappointed in who I am. Please give me your advice. Thanks.

my dad and mom got a divorce when i was like 1 yr old. My partner wants me back after being apart for 3 months. He has been honest and explained what has been wrong and that he is ill and didnt know how to tell me.
