Well, if they incorporate Drew Carter into the passing attack, pick up a tight end besides Gaines, give DeAngelo more touches, and keep the defense together, I can't imagine they'll be too bad. They had a great overall defense last year, they just failed to get turnovers to set up more scoring to assist their unusually powerless offense. I'm certainly hoping they have another great year, last year was such a let down after starting the season looking like Super Bowl contenders on paper, I'm beginning to think they are just an every-other-year team....beats being never good right?
I forgot something....and get the ball to Smith....

They need to stay HEALTHY. The problems they had in 04 and 06 were injury related. Steve Smith was hurting at one point in both years (all season in 04). The running game sputtered and Jake Delhomme was inconsistent.
As long as Smith is healthy and they have a good dose of running game, they should be fine for next season.

i expect them to be better than last season and delhomme to be much more effective than last year, but i still think this team is not going to make the playoffs...their running game is too suspect to take all the pressure off delhomme and steve smith, and when teams are able to stop smith the panthers offense stops too...if they do expect to make the playoffs, they will have to do it like they did in '03 and '05, by running the ball and playing good defense

i expect them to win the divison. last year they went 5-1 in the NFC South, so i think they will win that. if their running game starts working then they have a chance. if dan morgan stay healthy and the DBs go back to how they normally play, they could easily win the Super Bowl

The quarterback question will be the deciding factor. They have a good defense. Deangelo will be stellar at running back. If Steve Smith is good to go all year that will help. Jake is not going to cut it at QB.

They'll bounce back I think. I think the Saints will go back down this year, and the Falcons will continue to live and die by Mr. Erratic(Vick)
